Children's Museum of Oak Ridge

This is called a children's museum but it has exhibits from World War 2 era that are fascinating to those of us who were alive back then. The children's part has lots of things that are hands on and fun for kids. Be sure to call ahead to know if the hours are still the same as published and whether any of the major exhibits are closed for maintenance. Otherwise, a terrific experience awaits! And they have places for us old folks to sit while the kids play!

Visiting the museum is a great treat for our kids! It is nearly impossible to get them from the castle slide and life sized doll house. It also has a lot of history about Oak Ridge and is interesting for adults. My husband and I are planning a trip back alone to be able to fully see and read the historical documents from WWII. It is in an old school (that my father went to school in!) So don't expect chrome and shine-- just a good time for all to have! We also hosted our daughter's party there and everyone had a good time-- there is something there for everyone!
