Incredible venue, and well worth the drive.

This is what a theater should be, and perhaps one of the best stages for serious performing artist. The theater is not only an historical gem, but the seating and sound quality are terrific as well. The Stage is large, and appointed like nothing else. In fact, everything about the entire theater is grand. From the moment you climb the steps to the foyer and enter the lobby, until you are seated in either the balconey or on the main level: this theater evolks a feeling of excitement and antisipation of what will be an extrodinary experience. While sitting in the comfortable theater, one can't help but admire the well appointed surroundings of its period interior, and experience the wonder realizing the world famous performers past who have graced it's stage, but also those who attended those performances and filled the house with their laughter and applause. I took my son to a concert there back during the summer. While sittting in the theater, he said to me " dad this place is awesome"! Coming from an 18 year old young man, who's lack of appreciation for architecture, that was certainly saying something. He latter asked me how old the theather was, and then replied, " wow! That means this theater was operating before the Titanic was even built! And that is what I mean by awe. This building is a true functioning time machine, that actually showcases perfomances of our day, in a splendor that even the performers can appreciate, and makes the entire experience the better for it. For me, there are few places like it left in our country;; and much less our own state. This is truly a jem if I ever saw one. Hang on to it Knoxville. It's truley an irreplaceable monument to your heritage.
