For Dara -
Dara - I am a person who thought very little about organized religion. To me, its always been a place of deception and contradiction. People going just to see who is with who, what someone is wearing, etc. I never believed in the "word" that was being preached. I am a spiritual person, I believe in God and I live my life in a good way so as to be closer to God, but church was a joke to me and a waste of my time.
My first time at Faith Promise, I cried. Without a word being said, just walking through the door, there was a feeling of peace that settled over me. Now, I don't believe in having to devote my life to the church, but I believe in devoting my life to Jesus and to God. This church showed me how to be a better solider of God. I don't always agree with what is being asked of the parishioners, but the sermons will inspire those who are ready to accept God into their lives.
Does this mean I am not a member of the church because I do not tithe or commit to the missions and groups - maybe. But the spirit is in this church, and if you just listen to the words and let the gospel fill you, you will be closer to God. The fluff of the building, the parking lots, the child care, not important. What is important is believing in God and having a place that moves you so much you are inspired to go to God.
