Kingsport Downtown alive and thriving
By Presley, 07/08/09
Kingsport has a beautiful downtown area with tons of options for great food, entertainment, arts, you name it! My family of 4 was thrilled to see a concert in the middle of downtown during the week and ate at two great restaurants - Kaffe Blue and Bone Fire Smokehouse! Atmosphere in both were great. We will be back. Thank you Kingsport

D-E-A-D Dixie Ghost Town in downtown Kingsport
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/25/07
Here is the producer of the Foxworthy special entitled KINGSPORT! My recent trip to downtown Kingsport early evening delivered three options, bellydancing, the newstand and dozens of closed businesses or vacant buildings. Wonder why? City planners and town officials (boss hog) are at the trailer park drinkin' moonshine. Zero options for my family of 6. Visiting downtown Kingsport is like visiting a vacant movie set. Determined to enjoy this seemingly quaint country town I returned downtown 3-4 times with no success. Even during a summer concert series drawing thousands to the downtown area, every store and business was closed! Like a ski resort in the summer!? A seedy bar here, a hamburger stand there, middle eastern belly dancing on Main Street is not my idea of southern charm. Kingsport, Tn has zero substance, downtown Kinsport does not exist, it's an illusion. A car tour through adjacant residential neighborhoods reveal a frumpy, unkempt, rundown example of dixie blight. On a positive note Kingsport convenience stores carry an extensive selection of crack pipes, blunts and beer. Foxworthy, you'd be proud!
