We couldn't wait for the tram to see all the great scenery! Short lived excitement as it was the pits! We were crammed in like sardines...the lady said there were 120 in the tram (the max allowed). She told us to look forward and to the right etc to capture the beautiful scenery. All we saw was the backs of people's heads! If they want folks to see anything, besides the backs of heads, the max allowed should be around 60!! Each person who pays should be entitled to see a view of the mountains!
On the upside, the food in the German restaurant was delicious and the waitresses very hospitable!!
a bit pricey...but you can ride the tram all day the day you buy it and the next day.
i would recommend buying the wristband for unlimited trips on the rides.
really enjoyed the ski lift and the alpine slide!
the shops in the mall were really neat!
the bears were so exciting! there were 6 bears total!
two of the cubs were playing with one another the entire time we were there, which made for some GREAT pictures and video! two of the other bears slept the whole time, but eventually woke up after we had walked around to see the otters!
the only bad thing was the bees near the bear tanks.
the view from the tram is indescribable! It's absolutely breathtaking.
The tram to Ober Gatlinburg costs 9.50 per person for round trip. Once you are up there, you can buy coupons ($3 a peice) to do fun stuff. Up here you can ride another sky lift ($6 round trip) one way and ride the alpine slide back ($3). There are some food courts and other games for kids there too
The price that we paid was not worth it at all. The main reason that we went was to see the bears. We thought that the bears would be in the open wilderness where you had to walk and find them, but they were in a pool like thing. The pools were not big enough for the bears and there were two bears in each and there were three different places for the bears. The rides that they had were not worth it. You had to pay to ride them. They had an ice skating rink and you had to pay $8 to get a pair of skates. The place that we ate at the chips were stale and we got there as soon as it opened. The place was old looking and was very dirty, especially the restrooms.
The best thing was the ride up there and back. It was so beautiful.
We love Gatlinburg and of corse not taking the tram up to Ober would not be the same. We go up to Gatlinburg 2 times a yr and take the tram up to Ober one to Ski in the winter and the skiing is great the kids started going in 94 where they learned to ski no snow in florida. and we go every yr if not to ski to enjoy the summer activities at ober We did drive one yr up ski mountain road and boy we were sorry we missed the tram so much Price isnt bad either
This was the first place I went when I was 12 and we have went back every year its a great place to take the kids old and young its allways an enjoyable experince for me and the family so I would say its a great place to go in the southeast.
