Bent Creek Golf Course, Gatlinburg

I used to play this course a lot in the past. I played and stayed with a group of about 100 golfers. The company that used to use the course for it yearly tournament stopped using it several years ago. I wanted to play it again and i had suggested that our Sunday Golfer's group go down for the weekend next year. I thought I would go check it out to see if it was still as good as it was when I had played it. I called and got T-times for 4 a week ahead of time. It was very wet and cart path only. We teed off and noticed a single behind us so when we finished hole 2 we let the single go throught. Before that single had cleared hole 3 another single had caught us so we allowed him to go through. We played hole 3 and another single caught up allowed him to play through also. We were not playing slow. We were even playing slect shot to speed up our play. We teed off hole 4 and the ranger came up and told us to let a 2 some play through. He said you wouldn't want to hold them up would you? I said you are letting to many singles and 2 somes tee off and that there was no way we could match the speed of a single or a 2 some. He became very rude and told me that if we didn't like it we could go get out money back. We had played 3 holes let 3 singles and a 2 some play through. That is exactly what we did!! As we drove back there were 2 other singles and a 2 some on the t-boxes. We would have been there all day wait till they played through.

The golf course is fun. Many interesting holes. We are 32 handicap - it gave us a good work out. Little pricey for the condition of the greens.

My husband and I went to this course on August 8, 2008. This would be my first time playing on a golf course. My husband was trying to teach me so we could play together more often. The man, Rusty, at the Pro Shop was friendly and helpful. We got to the first tee off and another man was there. We told him to go ahead since I was a rookie. He told us to go ahead since he was walking the course. I warned him that I would be a little slow, he said no problem. We hit the ball and it took me 2 swings to hit then we founf our balls and it took me one hit to hit it closer to the green. THEN the man that was at the starter box (his name is Ollie) drove up behind us and said "I see we have a first timer". I told him my husband was trying to teach me how to play golf. He said that a golf course is no place to teach a person how to play golf. (Um excuse me, where do you teach someone to play golf, if not on a GOLF COURSE). He said that we were going to slow and we need to speed up the pace. When he left, my husband said he had never been rushed on a golf course. We played untill the 2nd hole and couldn't play anymore because we were so upset. We got our money back. I called the manager and told him. He was very nice about it but it still upset me. My 1st experience playing golf was absolutely HORRIBLE!!! I don't even know if I would want to try to play ever again.

The course presented numerous challenges, especially water which created a great course. Unfortunatly, the greens are infected and in awful condition. There are knats everywhere and they create terrible distractions when putting. And the staff was very rude, considering the starter questioned our knowledge of the 90 degree rule before teeing off (Are You Kidding).

My wife and I stayed one night and golfed the next day. The resort is definitly a great place for the whole family. Dad can golf (and wife can drive:) while the rest of the family plays. great place to get away for the weekend. If golfing, then good luck with whole number 11, you will need it! :)
