Ripley's Moving Theatre
You'll feel the wind and the snow during this high-tech simulator theatre that features seats moving in motion with the action on the screen. Two exciting shows are shown at this venue that is the only 3D motion simulator in Gatlinburg with six channel digital surround sound.
This ride was very enjoyable...but unlike the other reviews we did not think it was too rough. Some of these people need to visit dollywood and base the rougness of this ride on the Thunderhead. Although my family of 5 paid way to much for 2 ten minute rides. My 4 year old sister loved this ride. The snow ride was without a doubt the best.
The punchline of this theater was the beating we all took in the chairs. The ride is way too jerky. We had been sold on picking a combo ticket at the aquarium where the lady measured the kids to ensure they were tall enough for this ride. Then when we got to the ride the woman at the counter rudely informed us that the kids were too short though he measuring standard was on a slanted sidewalk. When I had them stand in the right place, they were more than tall enough. The woman at the aquarium told us the kids are free due to their age, but did not give us any sort of ticket into the other rides. We then had to argue this point with the rude lady at the desk of this ride. The ride opened at 10, but we stood in line for 30 minutes before they got their act together and started the first show. Rude staff, poor management, rude staff, and an abusive ride. The aquarium and haunted house were cool, but not this ride.
I usually love all Ripley attractions, but the motion theater was not very good. It only lasts about 15 minutes, and it is overpriced for that amount of time. In my opinion, you should save your money and do something worthwhile.
It was amazing. I was scared to do it at first, but i was glad i did it. It was only about 15 minutes but we had a Ripleys attraction pass so we saved money on the ripleys attractons. Overall I would Definately reccomend it.
The moving theatre is way too jerky. It may have been somewhat okay if there was another strap across your chest. It kept slamming me back in the chair and I kept hitting my head on the very uncomfortable headrest.
The movies weren't the greatest, however the second one it started snowing in the theatre, which was probably the most enjoyable part of it!
I would NOT recommend this to anyone else. Save your money!!
We go to Gatlinburg every year and we go here every year. It's a lot of fun for us and our kids. One year we took my mother in-law and she loved it and laughed the whole time. We're definitely going again this summer!
The first time I went here the movie's they played were in 3D and you had a pair of 3D glasses to wear which made it absolutely awsome. However, the years after that, they made it "4D" and they didn't give you glasses anymore which was a big disappointment for us but we still go anyway. This is a fun attraction and I recommend it to anyone.
I thought with having the "Ripley's" name behind it, it would be better than it was! There was a dinosaur on the sign outside, but there was no dinosaur in any of the movies! The movies were very old and out dated! The price was very high for what it was and it made my whole family very sick! I am glad this was only a 15 minute show because we could not of handled any more than that!
