Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies
Home to over 8,000 fish, this $50 million salt water aquarium contains 1.3 million gallons of water and features a wide variety of exotic creatures such as giant sharks, stingrays, eels, sea turtles, and octopus. They also feature the longest underwater tunnel in the world.
If you like aquariums this is a must see! There was tons to see, and plenty of interactive fun for children. The sharks, and stingrays were AMAZING. Also, you could pet horshoe crabs and stingrays if you want (I personally didn't, I'm a looker not a toucher :-D) Be sure to check out the live dive show. Another fun point to add... All of the Ripley attractions had the cleanest, freshest smelling bathrooms in town, which is golden in my book.
We went to the aquarium in the late evening (around 9) which ended up being a great choice. We didn't have to wait and we could spend as much time at each exhibit as we wanted. The price was well worth it. I would definately recommend it.
It was wonderful, the adults were having as much fun as the kids. There are things you get to see and do there that would be a once in a life time event. You have to see it to believe it,i mean when do you get to touch a stingray and hold a horseshoe crab?
I had a great exprience, even though it was a little costly. I think you can space out your trips to every 5 years ago. Long enough to forget what they have. Because that really never changes. But, over all me and my husband enjoyed it very much.
My husband and I took our two small children to this while in TN for our family reuion, they are 5 and 3... We had an amazing time! Our kids were bright eyed and VERY interested in each and every little thing! There was so much to see and do.
We are also military so we got in beyond cheap. I think it was around $8.00 for the 4 of us! (You have to show an ID for each person)
Just an awesome experience that we would LOVE to go see again anytime!
