I live in Clarksville, and i think everyone would like to come here.it doesnt cost much, its fun, and it feels great exploring something that was formed millions of years ago. It feels ancient and you feel as if you went back in time to where native people occupied the cave and left us their history.
We haven't been on a guided tour of the cave, but we love to go walking on the paths around the cave with our dogs. The path is usually quiet and relaxing. There is an occasional runner or so, but everyone we have ever encountered was friendly.
We are planning on taking a guided tour of the cave and know that you must call ahead and schedule a time to go. You must bring a flashlight and be able to walk for about an hour and a half.
We took our 6 year old son and had a blast. The tour is done with flashlights only and was over an hour. Tours were limited so we had to book 2 days in advance. The cave is not lit by electricity.
The cave has recently found native american cave drawings and has many beautiful formations. Because we used our flashlights, you felt like you were really exploring instead of on a commercial tour.
The only downside was that there was quite a bit of vandalism before the state took control and some of the formations were broken/graffiti on walls.
However, we enjoyed this more than Lost Cave or the self-guided tour at Mammoth Cave. Go figure!
I LOVED JUST BEING IN THE AREA AND SITTING AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE CAVE AND KNOWING THE HISTORY, THE DUCKS AND POND ARE FABULOUS AND I THINK I MAY FAVOR THE PLACE BECAUSE THAT IS WERE I GO ENGAGED. I DO THINK IT IS BEAUTIFUL
i have seen many caves in the us and in europe but this cave is just great, the fact that you have to have a flashlight, and don't have other lighting is a great experiance. the guides have great knowledge of the cave and make it interresting to find out about the history of the cave.
also like to walk the park.
