Santee State Park, Santee

I have been to and camped at the park three times this year and really enjoyed myself each and everytime except this last time..... Every evening the power went out and stayed out for a while causing food that we had to thaw and refreeze three different times throughout our 4 day stay.. and lost food as well because of this.....and to top it off the water was yellowish brown and had a nasty smell to it....would have been nice to have been compensated some how or even on future visits....my camp site was 82 on lakeshore area from Fri July 1 till wensday

We went to this campground for our first camping expeirence in april of 2010..The campground is amazing and has alot of space on each campsite..The only bad thing was the general store and tackle shop seem to be no longer open..No boat rentals... Overrall the place is awesome and we enjoyed it dearly..Going back again this weekend. Just remember its better to have a boat to go out in and make sure to bring all your own items.(ice,firewood etc....)

My father, G.B. LaBoon, built the state park with the help of Lucius James starting in 1948. It was a great place to grow up and there are many good memories. My father died in 1967, just before retiring after 20 years there. Santee has really grown over the years, as well as the State Park. It is a great place to vacation or just to spend the day. I am trying to get information on the cabin rentals, so I can go back home myself. Patsy LaBoon Thornal

We opted out of Florida - in February - to take advantage of the huge Camping Discount offered at Santee. We got a pullthru slot overlooking the Lake and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was a quiet and beautiful park. Park has nice hiking trails. Unfortunately we didn't see much wildlife this trip. We look forward to returning in the near future.

if you like to fish, water sking, just playing in the water you need to check it out you will come back every year.the best time to visit is anytime winter or summer if you have kid you will need to take them in the summer because there is so much todo you will have to cll them in 2 or 3 times because they are having so much fun.there was nothing bad about santee it is a good summer vac, for the hold family even the dogs & cats.
