The best hog hunting in the South is available at this 10,000 acre ancient plantation that also offer deer, quail, and wild turkey hunting. Rustic farmhouse or plantation house lodging options are available.
Nice Website, quick service to take your $. After the money changes hands, the service goes away. Well traveled and use and it all shows. 8 hunters for 2 days and 1 hog saw and shot. Stands are old and covered in litter. Guides are just locals who can drive a 4x4 and dump you onto any random stand. Main lodge was built in plantation style in 80s and looks like it hasn't been updated. Old pics of kills. Place looks over hunted. No food plots. Corn spread randomly as if childrend did it. Overall bad quality.
Please do some research on this place before visiting; I wish I had. The country is classic low-country swamp land, with "rustic" camplike accomodations. The quality of the hunt was poor; at best. The land has been TOTALLY overhunted, and the specimens lack MUCH to be desired. Over 2 days, I saw no hogs (probably because I learned later that my guide didn't bother to bait my stand), and the 3 that I saw that were killed averaged around 100-130 lbs.-far from the monsters I envisioned.
It's a classic case of overhunting, the land's resources are treated much more like a factory, and not nearly like the gift it once was. The best thing that could happen here is to close for 1 year solid to allow some recovery, and then hunting on a very limited basis.
