The Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers meet here to form the Ohio. Thirty-six grassy acres at the confluence of the three rivers of Pittsburgh bear witness to the more than 200 years of history. French and British forts, central to the Seven Years War of the late 1700s, were located here, with sparse ruins forming the basis of a modern museum. The famous fountain that has become a symbol of the city and shoots streams of water 150 feet high is also here. Its July 4th fireworks extravaganza draws massive crowds.
