Just north of Pittsburgh sits a historic Gothic-Tudor mansion. The former dwelling now welcomes visitors from spring through fall. The mansion's ground, 639 acres of verdant greenery and buildings, has been turned into a county park that hosts equestrian events, charity polo matches, outdoor concerts and dinner theater. Tours are available of the house and the formal garden. Hartwood is best known for an extensive holiday light display every Christmas. The grounds are closed from January through March, and mansion tours are conducted by appointment only. Admission is USD5 for adults, USD3 for children 6-12 and USD1 for children under age 5.
