I recently received a gift that had been purchased at Cenzia. It was very nice, but the color clashed horribly with the colors in my home. I took it to the store to exchange it for something more suitable. The owner reluctantly said that she would allow an exchange, but then when I had chosen my replacement object, she gave me a lecture on how “wrong” it was of me to return a gift. She actually tried to convince me that it was ethically more appropriate to “regift” it, or allow it to sit in a closet where it would never be enjoyed by anyone, than to exchange it for something that could be appreciated for years to come. She was so condescending and inconsiderate that I left in tears. The original gift will be donated to a church thrift store, as I have no use for it. The bottom line: If you want a lecture on morals from someone of dubious principles herself, go to Cenzia; if you’re shopping for gift items and knick-knacks, go elsewhere.
