Owned by Strickland Enterprises, a family owned and operated company with four gift shops and a screen print and embroidery plant, the Blue and Gray Gift Shop's inventory includes a large selection of Gettysburg souvenirs and clothing.
My boyfriend and I were visting Gettysburg and thought this looked like a nice gift shop to visit. We found some T-shirts we wanted to purchase and took them to the register. There was a lady probably in her sixties (grayish short hair and glasses) behind the register. The t-shirt my boyfriend wished to purchase was under a sign that said 50% off. It did not ring up as such and he stated, "Oh, I'm sorry I thought it was 50% off." She yelled at him VERY rudely and said, "What!? Why the heck would you think that it was?!" He said, "Excuse me?" She again continued to humiliate him shaking her head and rolling her eyes. She then stomped off toward the shirts and said, "See! These are NOT an sale!" We said we were sorry for the mistake but there was ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to treat customers in such a humiliating and mean manner especially when it was a simple mistake. We are highly disappointed with this unprofessional service in a TOURIST town. We told her she was being very rude and she had the nerve to shake her head and sigh saying, "whatever". We are still surprised by this experience! This is probably the same woman that the first reviewer "awful experience" dealt with!
I ordered online through the Gettysburg Reenactment web site and one of the shirts I ordered had three knicks in in and the case that the knife was in looked like a child put it together. I returned them over a week ago and have yet to receive the replacements for them. I have called 3 times in the last two days and no one can tell me if they shipped my replacements to me or not. The owner is the only one who can tell me and they say they haven't seen him because he is busy with 4 stores and is over the reenactment that will take place next week. The first guy I talked to yesterday was very curteous, but the lady I talked to twice today was very rude and reminded me both times that she had a store full of customers. She said the owner is the only one to help me and like I said, no one has talked to him. I will NEVER order from them again!! I also had to pay over $8.00 dollars in shipping that has been promised to be credited to card.
This shop has it all. From inexpensive fun items for kids & adults, to exquisite chess sets with civil war character pieces. Must check this out!! Also, visit GETTYSBURG CIGAR COMPANY a fews doors up the street for the very best tobacco products.
