everyone keeps blaming bad people from Philly and NYC for doing the stealing at dorney but I hate to tell you these people live IN ALLENTOWN! They are locals. stop blaming the big city people! Allentown has been going downhill for years and it's at the bottom of the hill already,.
My daughters & their friends went to Dorney Park in the summer and my daughter's bag was stolen. Her car keys, money & other belongings inside. She reported it to security and Dorney is so used to this they don't even report these thefts to the police. I told my daughter to ask how the police know that this has happened? Security said "that's your problem, we made a report in our computer and that's all we need to do", according to the park's "policy". The kids were looking all through the park for her bag. None of the security guards helped. My daughter asked the person that made the report why no one was helping and they told her the others didn't know. He then repeated that he had done his job by making that report in their computer. The kids were stranded at closing time, I made them call the police. The police found out they were at Dorney & called them back on their cell phone and said they weren't coming that they would take the report over the phone. My kids and their friends were left outside at closing time. There was no security to help them, and they were worried that someone might come with the stolen keys to get her car. We had to drive an hour and a half to pick them up. I was furious. I called the supervisor of security, I was on the phone yelling asking how she would feel if it were her children out there. Her response kind of says it all..."MY kid wouldn't be HERE".
This place has gone down hill, it is run by punks, thugs and trash. I wouldn't be surprised if it was their staff that is stealing everything. Maybe that's why they have become so complacent.
As a local Lehigh Valley resident, I haven't been to the waterpark in about 10 years. And it will be more than that long before I go back. 45 minutes to wait in line for a 30 seconds water ride? What fun. $15 to rent out a small locker? Nice! No shade anywear, with not enough benches or places to sit, how relaxing.
But the best part was the patrons. Anyone grossed out by people going in the water with underwear on? I was. How about people wearing full clothing? Shorts, shoes, hats (yes baseball hats, fully wet) into the water. I would be surprised if Dorney Park actually would ever say to someone, they couldn't walk into the water with what they were wearing, but heck, why not take all that $$$. Seriously, I would expect the River Ganges to have cleaner water. I was actually shaking with disgust when I saw these gross people (piercings, tatoos, skin problems) walking into the water.
I have been a long time visiter to Dorney Park but in the last two years they have let the place really go downhill. This year they started closing their rides down 7 minutes before the posted closing time, most of their employees are very rude anymore, and the park is not as clean as it used to be. Anymore they also get alot of rough people from Philly and NYC and the whole place just has a seedy feel these days.
My son went to Dorney with his school. Over a dozen kids had cell phones, money and personal belongings stolen. They put thier bags down in the water park area. When they came out of the water thier bags were gone. They found them in one of the bathrooms with all the valuable items gone. Security at the park would do nothing about it!! My family has gone to amusement parks all over the world and has never had a bag stolen. I believe certain types are coming to this park from Philadelphia just to look to steel things like this. The person who stole these things made off with several thousands of dollars in cell phones alone. Each kid lost $30 or more. Several of the girls lost thier bag and all of thier clothing in it. I will never go back to this park. It full of dirt bags!! Be aware before you go.
When I went here last Summer it was the best!!! They have rides for everyone!! My grandfather even went on them!! I remember that we did the water park in the morning so we went on a few good water slides. Next we went on the rides in the amusement park. There were no lines for the rollercoasters!!! Well atleast the ones I went on steel fore and thunder hawk. The whole family can have fun here but there aren't enough bathrooms!
If you haven't heard about this place you may wonder why. Thinking it must be small, no rides, just plain no fun since you haven't heard much about, right. Wrong! Dorney park is great it's a lot like six flags America but with a few bigger rides, the water kingdom is also great. The prices oh my the prices are so good you actual have money for the games and for food without breaking your pockets. Now when I say bigger rides I mean just that, they have a ride that looks like you can touch the clouds. You know how as you approach a amusement park you can see one or two rides peaking over the trees, well this one ride you can see well before you get there and you just don't know it's a ride just yet. They even have a exciting lazy river. You don't sit and go round and round it ahs a little drop here and there for fun. So I really would say if you haven't been to Dorney park it's a MUST!
dorney park is really nice. unlike six flags you can pay ONE PRICE for both the water and land rides. I go every summer. I always have fun.My favorite attraction is the water, i dont really travel and i libe in NEW yORK AND dORNEY pARK IS A GOOD QUICK PLACE TO GOW....AND YOU WILL HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!
