Old, tired and too expensive
By ,
The real fishermen are great but the shops and 'sights' are a joke. Over priced and tired. Walmart has better ones. Mo's great for clam chowder. Otherwise, skip it.

Tourist Trap

A great place to see the in and outs of daily fishing community life. However it is priced outrageously. Souveneirs are best purchased at Wal-Mart. Same items, 50% price. Food is the best though, must try MO's clam chowder in a bread bowl. Been eatin it for 20 years!

The coolest fishing port on the coast!
By ,
Nye Beach is nice, but the bayfront brought out the best of this central coast town. It's a true working port with commercial fishermen plying their trade. We bought some of the freshest fish right off the boat. Back at the campground (on the beach) we were the most popular campsite around. The smell of barbequed Albacore Tuna with teriaki still makes me salivate. Keiko may be gone but the aquarium still is quite fun. I'm going back in the winter to watch storms roll in and try some Dungeness crab cocktail.
