This was a very interesting lighthouse with a charming story. The self guided tour is quick, and even though you must climb stairs, it's not as many as most lighthouses. Our only complaint when we were there were the number of families letting their 8-14 year old children run about this old historical building without much supervision. With 3 different staircases and some wobbly senior citizens in the building, it made enjoying the lighthouse more difficult. The workers did their best to keep the kids under control, but there is not much they can do when the parents seem oblivious. Other than that minor annoyance, it was fascinating and the video in the basement (about 13 minutes long) is worth watching. It gives a short history of the Yaquina Head Lighthouse too.
