Fifth Street Public Market, Eugene

The Eugene Public Market is not at all what I expected. It's a very nice shopping mall - more character than most, some nice stores and restaurants, nice outdoor spaces. When I think of a Public Market, I think of stalls with fresh food, either to eat now or to take home to prepare. I think of artisans' booths, with the artists there to show & explain their works. Eugene's Saturday Market comes closer to this image. Some communities DO have public markets that are like farmers markets, but open every day & protected from the weather.
