shanghaied is exciting, and fun! my father has been part of shanghaied for three years now. the people who run the show are nice, and caring. shanghaied now owns the building, and will soon be putting indoor bathrooms!! yay! love shanghaied, and cant wait to see this years show!
I saw Shanghaied in Astoria during it's 21st year and loved it so much, I joined the cast. I've been in it for the last two years and it's been a LOT of fun! We work hard to please our audience and we often have a full house. We love to mingle with the crowd when possible. This is a very interactive show.
I would recommend this show for anyone between the ages of 7 and 100! It is definately worth the time, and the prices for seats are different (and very fair!) depending on where you sit. (Try to get seats toward the center of the stage. ;)) However, we have a bar and bimbo booth where we have lots of souveniers and treats. And we also have a raffle, so I'd advise bringing a bit of extra cash with you when you go! You'll be sorry if you don't. ;P Well, I hope to see you there! =)
It's a small joint with a lot of flavor. Call a few days early and get the best seats possible. It's worth the extra couple of bucks to sit right in front.
Awesome time and the cast is friendly afterwards. They mingle about and talk with you after the show. Corny jokes, off key songs, and comedy for a solid two and a half hours. You won't be disappointed.
When I first entered the Finnish Meat Market Theater and home of the 20 year old musical melodrama SHANGHAIED IN ASTORIA, I didn't know what to think. But after I settled in with my beer and popcorn and the lights went down I was drawn into a frolicing experience of bad jokes, fisherman tales and just plain fun.
I reccomend this for the whole family 6 to 84! Don't miss it call early for tickets!
