Mary Ann Hunt Gillaspy

I grew up in Foraker and went to business college in Ponca City, I have been in the Marland Manison and it is beautiful. I am now so proud to say I live in Marrietta, Ok and we just built a church and in the church are the stained glass windows from the chapel and it means so much to me. The picture in the paper I have kept copies as to show my children and grandchildren. I am proud to say I'm an Okie.

Simply Facinating..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/28/05
I loved everything about this historical castle. It is so stately and breathtakingly beautiful. I enjoyed hearing the history of how this place was built and the tragedy of how it was lost. How greed of others took it away from Marland and probably cost him his health and death. Also, knowing the mystery of his adopted daughter/second wife, who actually came back to live on the grounds as this historical place was open for tours. Her "ghost" still graces the grounds some evenings. Such a facinating story of down-on-his-luck to extreme wealth back to near poverty. Sad too. Touring this place will be a memory I will cherish and always revisit in my mind. Thank you Ponca City!!!

Marland Mansion
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/10/04
I live in Newkirk Oklahoma just north of Ponca about 15 miles. I have been at the Mansion several times, But I have never been inside of the Mansion. But I do know that the outside and the yard area is magnificent. I can not believe what the inside must look llike. The grounds around the mansion are wonderful. Hopefully I will get to explore the mansion soon. But just the pond and the yard area is worth looking at.

Marland Mansion Was Great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/11/04
My Mother and I visited the Marland Mansion in May of 2004, and I didn't think I was going to enjoy the tour, but I loved it and came away with a sense of respect for what E.W. had gone through and also for what he had lost. It was thrilling to be in such a grand home and to imagine the happy times for him and his family and friends, I would go again anytime. D.G.
