PCHGS is located in an historic building on the main road in town. It is rich in hard copy information concerning many immigrants who settled in the area due to the railroad and local mining. The area was booming in the early 1900's and many immigrants stayed to open famous local restaurants now in service. As well as grocery stores, hotels, bakery and preserved foods. Local records are excellent source of historical facts are fully indexed and including natives of Italy, Germany, Slavic and Indian Nations. The County Library (Obits) and Courthouse (Marriages) are within walking distance of this rich genealogical resource. Records include County Cemeteries, Death/Burial/Funeral, Naturalization, Census, Mining, Military, Indian Rolls and many records bartered with neighboring states. Volunteers are very helpful and knowledgeable on-site. Copy and Membership fees are quite reasonable.
