Tom Mix Museum
Numerous costumes, memorabilia, photographs, and personal belongings of Tom Mix, the first King of the Cowboys, are displayed at this museum. There is also a theater in the museum that plays silent movies starring Mix.
The Tom Mix Museum in Dewey, OK is a great community effort that helps preserve the memory of one of early Hollywood's most important stars -- Tom Mix. The people of Dewey have brought together a very nice collection of personal effects including the suitcase that killed Tom near Florence, AZ, a replica of Tony (the wonder horse) and many articles of colorful apparel, heavily decorated saddles, weapons etc.). There is a nice little theater that shows videos of some of Tom's remaining films, also. (Many Tom Mix films which I've never seen are availble on DVD at the museum.)
All in all, the Tom Mix Museum was well worth the many hundreds of miles we travelled out of our way to see(going to Florida from California). There are also a number of very nice antique shops and restaurants in Dewey.
