Wonderful facilities, great staff.
By Harry, 9/19/10
No dislikes, although a couple more showers would be nice. The facilities are all top-notch, and some of the nicest showers I've seen anywhere. We spent two nights camping there in August 2010, and took the long float. Our campsite was spacious and private and clean. Even the portajohns were clean (not always the case at many sites). We had our own canoe, so didn't rent anything, but the rental equipment was clean, and well maintained. Aaron and Valerie and all the other staff we talked to were friendly and helpful. The river was fun to run, a bit on the low side the day we ran it, but pleasant and scenic. There are numerous sweepers on the river that could be a concern at higher levels. Rock bridge was interesting. The landing was indeed very slippery and muddy, but it's apparently partof a nature preserve, and therefore the concervancy won't modify the landing. I'd remommend HHCL and the Hocking river to anyone that wants a nice family canoe trip that's withig almost anyone's skill level. Camping at HHCL was teriffic and we are pnalling on doing it again next summer. Five stars all the way!

Great place for the whole family!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/9/10
We strive to provide the best possible service in the paddlesports industry. We work very hard at it and take it very serious. We also love our river (Hocking River). So, we do take it personally when we see a negative review for our business, especially after we read it and very easily determine this guy is an. Wildlife? Turtles, Great Blue Heron, deer, Osprey, river otter, beaver and muskrat are some of animals we see on a regular basis, no they don't swim up to the canoe or stand on a rock so you can get that perfect picture, you have to look for them!! Hence the name "wildlife". What did this guy expect? A petting Zoo on the river. Yes, you have to get out of your canoe to see the natural Rockbridge, what an awesome formation! Unfortunately we don't have what would possibly be North Americas own rock arch going over a navigable waterway! Litter, yes you do unfortunately see some, just like the roadways. We do regular river cleanups to help this problem and also give what we call a trash refund when our guests bring back any litter they may see while on their float trip. These great people are part of the solution and not just complaining about it. We should all do our part. Please forgive the negative tone of these paragraphs but when I read this from SSG C (I'm a veteran as well)it angered me, I tried in vain many times to get yahoo to remove it but they just send out a generic e-mail thanking me for my time. Unfortunately anybody can write a review even if it is not based on logical assumptions. If we do something wrong and get a negative review then we deserve it, but I feel like this guys perception of a canoe trip is based on a Disney movie and is not fair to us, besides some people are just negative and everything is a bummer to them, to those people- Don't bring the rest of us down in your pit of negativity! Thanks everyone and we hope to see you on the river! Aaron Fox

A GREAT FAMILY ADVENTURE!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/3/08
The staff was very friendly and accomodating to our family. Our kids loved the gravel beaches and looking for crawdads on the river. We loved the Natural Rockbridge, well worth the walk. Very clean facility and equipment. A must do while in the Hocking Hills.

these people say you can see the rock bridge. would make you believe youd travel under it. they dont mention that you have to get out of your canoe and walk up some hidden muddy embankment. river was nice but no wildlife alot of litter though.. save your time and money.
