Very nice looking mall, but in a state of disrepair- nofunctioning fountain and ceilings in pretty bad shape. Mostly empty, more than half of the storefronts are not in use. Many good deals at remaining stores.
It's sad that sooo many of the good stores and places to go are no longer located in the mall. the mall is a dead zone rarely will you see anyone in there. they no where near have the crowds that thy used to get.. without jcpenney and kaufmanns the mall would close down.
Although desolate there are interesting things remaining to see and shop for. Great place to walk around. Rumours of crime are most likely false as during the day I did not see anything suspicious and felt totally safe. The area surrounding it is starting to get a little seedy/depressed but still has many nice places to offer and lots of potential.
Sears is now slated to close by April of 2011. That will leave only the JCPenney Outlet store at the mall. Owners are still undecided on what to do with the hulking building. The building and parking lot are in major disrepair.
I had always liked the cleanliness of Rolling Acres. The cleaning personel kept the mall shinning, but now that they have all been terminated, I wonder about the cleanliness. It lacks shoppers and stores, and if it were to come back to life.... It would be a mall to make Akron Proud.
I think they should put some good entertainment in the mall such as someone had suggested ( a skating rink, out of the Target store). That alone would draw crowds, which would also bring shoppers to the stores that are there. Restaurants would be a great idea also. Not just fast food, but sit down, full service restaurants, as people would come from all around surrounding work areas for lunch...then possibly return for shopping. I know I am not the only one who would really love to see the mall Live again!
overall condition is very clean and very safe. parking lot needs repairs. 50 percent occupancy, nice theater with three movie screens, wonderful prices for admission. nice clean food court.with a little effort this mall could be re-jouvinated to a once busy mall again. great place to get bargains right now, especially with the holidays approaching.
My friend knew there was a Dillards Outlet store there and that is why we went. Little did we know they also had a Sears and JC Penney Outlet too. We were pressed for time, so we could not cover the entire mall. But we found bargins at the ones we did make it to and will definitely be back. Beautiful mall, but only half filled. I would go during the day because it is near the freeway, but in a semi-empty part of town. It is definetly worth a trip.
