This theatre is now closed. Has been closed since late summer 2005. I have never been more surprised by a business review than the one I read below. Apparently, the owner of the theatre was trying to keep it open by writing such a wonderful review on this page- (it didnt work). This theatre was filthy, in dire need of repair, the audio in all cinemas was muffled and the speakers were blown, the screens were fuzzy, scratchy and out of focus. The staff was rude. They were extremely strict on their film ratings and not allowing anyone under the age of 17 into R-rated films, even though there was rarely more than 3 cars in the parking lot on any given night (including weekends!) I decided to look for old ticket stubs in the grassy area beside the theatre one afternoon while they were still in operation.. instead, I found used needles and condoms. Very filthy, run down theatre in desperate need of updating before it shut down. I remember that the movie 'Beauty Shop' was on the marquee during it's last week of business (mind you, Beauty Shop had left most discount theatres by this time and was heading to DVD).
Regal's Mayerry Cinema is the best cinema I have ever been to. The atmosphere was completely perfect and the staff was absolutely astounding. They had a wonderful selection at their concession stand and the prices were, in my opinion, normal for a movie theatre of their prestige. The movies were played with exceptional quality. I've never had a better time at any other theatre as I did at Regal's Mayberry Cinema. I look forward to continuing my movie going experience with them.
P.S. I'm glad there is a theatre in Mt. Airy that offers such great quality and customer satisfaction, because we know other theatres there are nowhere near comparison to Regal's Mayberry Cinemas.
