NEVER AGAIN
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/22/10
THIS TRIP WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. THIS WAS OUR 2ND YEAR TO GO AND WE WILL NEVER RETURN. WE WAITED IN LINE FOR 3 HOURS TO GET TUBES. RIDUCULOUS. SOME OF THE STAFF WERE VERY UNFRIENDLY. THE OUTSIDE TOILETS WERE HORRIBLE. YOU WOULD THINK IF YOU HAD A PLACE OF BUSINESS, INSIDE PLUMBING WOULD BE MANDATORY. THE SLOPES WERE A SLOPPY MESS. WE TOOK OUR CHURCH GROUP THERE BECAUSE IT WAS CLOSER BUT THE NEXT TIME WE WILL GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. THE COST FOR STONE MT IS THE SAME AND THERE IS MORE TO DO THAN STAY AROUND A FIRE AND COME OUT SMELLING LIKE SMOKE. LIKE I SAID....THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE. THE TUBES WERE WORNED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. WE GOT TO SLIDE ABOUT 6 TIMES AND THAT WAS KIND OF EXPENSIVE AND MY GRANDDAUGHTER SLIDE ONE TIME AND WOULD NOT GO BACK DOWN. THEY WOULD NOT REFUND THE MONEY. THATS IS BAD FOR BUSINESS. I WILL MAKE SURE I TELL EVERYONE ABOUT OUR TRIP TO MOOONSHINE MT. THEY NEED TO UPDATE SOON.

wish I knew....not organized
By nancy, 01/22/10
We tried to go twice. We were excited about the two-hours starting when you make your first run so we did not have to rush our day. When we got to moonshine mountain, it was so packed with people waiting to get a tube we decided to try coming first thing in the morning when they opened on 1/18/10 (a Holiday). We checked the website for the hours which said they would open at noon, with a mention of extended hours on holidays, so we called and were told that on MLK day they would be open at noon. We arrived at 11:50 and the place had already been open since 10:00 a.m.!!! It was not as crowded, so we went in to pay and after a 20 min wait in line to pay, we were told it would be 2 to 2 1/2 hours to get a tube!!! Looking at the crowds, and how slow the tube line was moving, we figured that it was not worth the wait to tube only a handful of times. On the way out, we ran into several other people who had called to check the hours and were told the same thing. We also ran into someone who said that they never make you leave after two hours, you could stay and tube for 4 hours if you want. Maybe that is why there is such a wait for the tubes. I imagine that doing it in sessions would be easier and more oganized. I would rather drive a few minutes farther to Maggie Valley where I know it's more organized.

Pretty Awesome
By Dreams, 01/05/10
Moonshine Mountain was great for a first snow tubing experience. It was fast, but you have to read the signs in order to know what to do next. Snow tubed plenty for the two hours we were given. There were four slopes, one beginner, intermediate, advanced, and a little kiddy one. Most of the employee's were friendly, some of the young men though seemed a little arrogant. Overall it was a good place to go to have fun, but bundle up cause it was FREEEZING!

fun if not crowded
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/01/10
This is a great place if not crowded. If you have to wait to get in; come another time. In two hours only able to make seven runs and that was walking up(the lift was twice as slow). 12/30/09

December 2009 Snow Tubing
By Aubrie, 12/31/09
Best snow tubing near Asheville area. Could have used more seating inside but that's because the place was packed. Guys put forth a valiant effort finding parking places for guests. A little hard to find. Just plain cold snowy fun. Ages 6 and up will enjoy this place. Not for indoor folks or clean-car freaks, muddy parking but we really didn't care. If snow tubing is what you want this is THE place. Visited Dec. 28th 2009.

Overpriced, unorganized, and bad in general
By David, 12/21/09
My girlfriend and I went to Moonshine Mountain earlier today and I am extremely disappointed. When we arrieved at the park (11:30 a.m.) we had to wait an extra hour to begin tubing because the crew was very slow in preparing the slopes. The lines were very long due to the unprofessional employees at the park, so there was about 15 minutes in between each 5 second ride. The Moonshine Mountain website tells about how the park is the only park in the country that allows large "trains", this was total b.s. because today no trains were allowed because "the slopes were too slick". The price was the worst part about Moonshine Mountain. It was 25 dollars per person for two hours, so we paid 50 dollars for a combined 10 rides down the hill. It was such a rip-off, and we plan to never go back again.

we had a blast!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/31/08
Moonshine Mountain is a lot of fun!! We didn't find it to be disorganized at all. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The porta johns were as clean as porta johns can be and hey, your only there for a few hours. After 2 full hours of tubing we were tired and were ready to go. Overall it was a great day trip and we look forward to doing it again!!

It was...OK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/17/08
I think it's a different experience for people who have never seen snow before. Compared to a snow park in the mountains, it seemed REALLY small, crowded, and overpriced. The snow was more like ice due to the fact they obviously hadn't turned on the snow machine in awhile. Our kids had fun because they've grown up in GA and don't see snow very often but I think next time we'll drive a little further to see some real snow.
