Wet 'N Wild Emerald Pointe Water Park
\"America's most exhilarating water park,\" this is the largest waterpark in the Carolinas with over 35 rides and attractions on site including drop slides, enclosed slides, tube rides, two children's areas, and a drifting lazy river.
We visited yesterday and were enjoying the 'sunken ship' area when a medical emergency happened in front of our eyes. A woman passed out and had a seizure. The quickness of the response team was absolutely impressive. After she was taken care of and removed on a stretcher, some of the lifeguards high 5'd each other, obviously impressed by their own team work and skills. I also give a big HIGH 5 to all involved and the the Wet n Wild park for great training and in hiring competent young employees. Thanks we had a GREAT day!
Wet n wild use to be the bomb back like 10 years or so ago, now they have all these rules now and modifications. The wave pool is boring now that you can't have any flotation devices beside a life vest in the wave pool. The food is terrible and ridiculously expensive ($8.00 for a slice of pizza). They removed the best attraction/ride at the park(The Pirate's Plunge) which was a zip line that landed you in about 10 ft of water. That ride was the best. Now it seems that the park is geared towards little kids now as opposed to real thrill-seekers like myself. I will never return to this park again until they make some adjustments. I'm 26 years-old. Its definitely not for me, too boring. Get it together Emerald Point. :-( Please bring back The Pirate's Plunge then i may reconsider
My family ( 2 adults, 4yrs, 12yrs, and 15yrs) went to Wet N Wild Sunday, 5/27/12. Our overall experience was great! The slides/rides are spread out through out the park but they all were fun. Some slides/rides were long at times but we just went to the ones that were not. My 4 yrs old loved the kiddie area.
They check your bags before you go in so don't try to hide snacks in your bag.. not even wrapped in a towel :-( You can bring water bottles in. We bought a cooler and kept it in the car with sandwiches, snack and drinks. You can leave the park to go to your car but if you drive away you have to pay to park again $7. If you don't want to leave your cooler in the car you can pay to leave it in a shaded area there at the park. We didn't buy lockers b/c we only took towels inside. I wasn't gonna buy my 4yr old a ticket and just have her dad carry her in but I was too scared and didn't want the hassle. I bought my 12yrs a childs ticket but my 15yrs I bought a adult ticket.. all online at home.
My family and friends have been coming to the park for 3 years. We live in VA and drive appox 3 hrs and we average going every other weekend in the summer. After reading the reviews I would like to comment about the food prices - try going to Kings Dominon or Bush Gardens you will find Emerald Points prices very fare, also parking at Kings Dominon I believer is over 10.00. I have never had any one at the park be rude. Disappointed this year that the priorioty pass does not include free parking like the pass years. We enjoy the park very much and will continue to go!!
Horrible place. 20 minutes to buy an Ice cream cone. no joke!! No credit card readers, that's right, they write your credit card number on a little paper slip and send you on your way. This is the 21st century people!! get with the times. 1 beer $6, 1 slice of pizza with chips and no drink $8. This place is ridiculous. Not to mention that one of their water slides CUT my skin in four places. One of the black slides under daredevils drop. I thought I was going so fast it was a heat burn, but come to find out it broke my skin all over my back!! Cabana waitress was the nicest person there, everyone else seemed to hate their job due to lack in technology and efficiency. I would never be back top this place and advise anyone to avoid at all cost. As a great alternative, Dolly Parton's Splash Country is 1000 times better. Eventually, some little 6 year old kid is gonna go down that slide and it's gonna cut his back bad enough to open a lawsuit. When that day happens, I hope this place gets shutdown or at least new owners.
Most unfriendly staff I have ever encountered. My grandchilds snack was confiscated at the gate! The water was freezing cold. The place is packed with people, almost to the point of being dangerously overcrowded. My son climbs to the top of the waterslide only to be turned away because he refuses to give the attendant his tee shirt although several others were allowed to go down in tee shirts. Most of the "staff" are kids. Ridiculous how the place is run. I am amazed it stays in business. I would never go back or recommend it to anyone.
I loved the entire park, it's was packed with things to do for all ages! The whirlpool ride was awesome! Only thing I didn't like was all the food/drink prices were sky high! I recommend bringing your cooler/bag and checking them in at the gate and going there to have snacks and reenter. That way you don't have to pay the extreme prices! But, you have to expect it for any establishment such as this! All of the rides were open and great. The park was clean and nice. Even plus sized people can fit on the rides and wear the life jackets! I found this awesome cause most places are not equipped for larger sized people! The lifeguards were on point, and truly did their jobs! I had a group of 24 persons and we all left planning our next visit! This park beats Carowinds by far!
Dad went under in whirlpool today...me, my mom, and strangers started screaming HELP..and waving our arms for the lifeguard (which was right above us). He never came to help. My dad has always been a great swimmer. He went under and could not get himself back up. I tried to help him while at the same time screaming as loud as I could to the lifeguard and waving...then I went under. He literally almost lost his life in there today. Thank the lord above that he somehow finally got forced up ..my mom and I trying to help as much as we could..while being pulled in different directions. We told the supervisor there..and he was rude about it...and seemed not to care. I just want people to know so that this does not happen to anyone else. Seeing my father like that...the look on his face..will haunt me forever. We will NEVER go back
