Cooper Creek Trout Farm, Bryson City

I have been to this place several times now and it's better than any fish out pond I've been to. There are several things that I like about this place. The road that takes you to the pond dead ends at the site. It is secluded and nestled in a beautiful valley with mountains on all sides. The staff is helpful and friendly and want to make your fishing experience a good one. They will clean whatever you catch for a minimal fee. The fish are large, clean and great tasting. What's also neat is that there is a trout fish hatchery on site that you can tour for free. An added bonus is that the the property backs right up to the National Forest where there is a moderate hiking trail that leads to a beautiful waterfall. And if you're lucky, you might even spot a black bear in the distance. The fun began when we turned on to Cooper Creek Road. We meandered slowly up the road until we came to the farm. It was more beautiful than I had imagined it to be, a very secluded and quiet location. You will not hear a car or people while you take in the landscape and the top notch fishing. As you would expect the fishing action is non-stop. The fish will wear you out here but the real gem is the pristine surroundings, trails and waterfalls that make Cooper Creek my new favorite place to stop at on my Smoke Mountain ventures. A special shout out to Austin who set us up with some tackle and gladly cleaned and filleted our trout when we were ready to leave. We visited while in Bryson City. The owner was very helpful and accomadating. We visited in off-season, but he made the effort to make sure we were able to fish, bring our dog with us, and give us tips on what the fish were biting. We caught a few, wanted more to take home, but didn't have much time left to fish, so the owner pulled some from the raceway for us. Great guy, didn't even mind when our dog fell in the raceway trying to help! Our fish were nicely cleaned and packaged to take home. Bring your cooler, bring your kids, bring your pets, this is a beautiful mountain setting to enjoy the outdoors and take home some very tasty fish! We'll be back!

We went there last summer with 3kids under 12. They had a blast. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The kids talked about it for days. We'll go back every time we're in the area.

Great setting, friendly staff, clean pond, easy catching, nice mild fish with no muddy taste. My children had a great time. They cleaned the fish well. I took my own cooler with ice (not sure if they have ice). No credit cards. $4.50/lb.
