Can't wait to go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/20/12
It was super hot outside as it was summer time but we all had a good time. Food isn't too expensive. Animals were out and they had water sprinklers to keep us cool.

Never Want To Go Back
By Deno, 5/14/12
Didn't see many animals. Did wait in line at the ladies room for over 30 min. Had to wait in line longer to get lunch. Cheaper food item choices are cash only. Not enough room for children to be able to see any animals if there were any to see. A five mile walk and all up hill. We saw an elephant, a rhino, many deer, a hawk, fish and turtles. And a lion far away. The fake dinosaurs were the best, but cost extra!!!!!! Sorry Kids!! A day we will never get back!!!!!!!

This is NOT the San Diego Zoo!
By A Patriot, 4/9/12
I liked that it was only a 1/2 hour away from where we lived. I did not like that the Tram Driver deceided not to stop at the scheduled stop and took an extra 1/2 hour to get where we needed to go (we should have walked anyway). I did not like the fact they had NO ANIMALS! They did have some fake dinosaurs but you had to pay extra to see the fake stuff. I liked the fact that I only had to drive 30 minutes to go anywhere else. Repeat... THEY HAVE NO ANIMALS... your kids will be BORED!!! Ok to be fair they had a few... but not worth the trip/the expense/the experience. So if you go don't say I did not warn you. Make the drive to the National Zoo in DC and save your money!!!!

A nice zoo with no animals
By The Planet, 4/2/12
I liked the zoo grounds. I found it hard driving all the way there and explaining to an 8 year old why there were no animals. We saw 1- part of a lion laying in thick grass 1- an artic fox totally asleep in thick grass 2- a couple of baboons 3- gorillas 0- elephants 2- Rhinos 1000 0- hippos 2- zebras 4- giraffs 6 lemars 2- pigs. 1- toucan 1- african eagle yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn of a zoo. the best part were the turtles out in the lake prior to entering the zoo... not even in the zoo. With all the revenue generated one would think they woud actually have some animals at the park. We were way done in under an hour. My kid, was very bored not being able to see actual animals as were many others. We will never go back. They should turn this into a big game preserve and let hunters in.

very nice zoo
By Michelle, 7/17/10
This is a great zoo that is very spread out so the big animals have lots of room to roam. It boasts 5 miles of walking trails on the brochure. Because the zoo is so large it didn't "feel" crowded. Most of the exhibits are under several trees so you are under shade most of the time although sunscreen would still be a good idea. Admission to the zoo was relatively cheap, but they don't let you take food & drinks in with you and of course food & drinks inside the zoo are ridiculously overpriced. Drinks are almost $3 ($2.75 in the machines, $2.80 for a fountain drink). There is a cafeteria in the middle of the zoo but the food is very overpriced - and it tastes awful - like cheap school cafeteria food. It took us about 4 hours or so to walk from one end to the other (we skipped a few places). We got to the other end with the intention of jumping on the tram to get back to our car. The tram wasn't running because an ambulance was called for someone (it looked like a teenager with heat exhaustion). The lines waiting for the tram were very long. We knew waiting for the trams to start running again would've taken forever, so we had to walk all the way back. The walk back was miserable! In the future, we will take the tram FIRST to get to the other side, then explore the zoo as we walk back towards the car. We will also eat right before entering so we don't have to eat at the zoo (maybe keep some granola bars or something in my purse). I like the other lady's suggestion of taking in a cup to refill at the water fountains, although I didn't see a lot of water fountains. Overall it was a great zoo and we will definitely go back!

not good
By Lorie, 5/16/10
I just got back from taking my son. I haven't been in years but remembered how great it was... well as the years have gone so has the zoo. there aren't as many animals as there used to be... only one of most and if there were more they didn't come out....I don't plan on going back it seemed to be a waste

Great zoo , had a lot of fun
By brentl, 4/5/10
Animals seemed happy, had a lot of room to run around and are placed in very natural habitats. The elephants are very interesting to watch , they put on a show themselves. Whoever is writing stuff about the animals sleeping, the only animal I saw sleeping today was the cougar. It's a great zoo and well worth the money, plus they drive you back too your car for free!

okay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/3/07
The zoo is huge and their are a lot of animals, but most of them seemed unhappy and lethargic. We had gotten a year membership which I think was about 60 bucks or so, can't remember. You could easily spend all day here, but why would you really want to? In the summertime there are busloads and even more busloads of wild children, and this really adds to the frustration of trying to navigate the place. Most of the kids are "chaperoned" by aloof and uncaring adults who let them run wild. If you could haul all of these people out of the park it would make the whole thing a lot more enjoyable. Some of the indoor exhibits really stink. I mean the smell.... The price of a pepsi is like 2 bucks out of the machine...come on, that is ridiculous. I would find another way to spend my money and my time.

Nice zoo
By Monkey, 7/23/07
Very nice zoo, just very spread out so be ready for some walking! Most of the walk way is covered by trees so not to much sun can get thru. Tons of animals and a great place for kids!
