Sugar Hill Golf course. 9 holes of Junk
this golf property has had many incarnations since My family has been vacationing In the Westfield NY area since I was born. (1972) The latest is Sugar Hill golf course. I have played the game of golf regularly for over 20 years and this is among the the top 10 awful experiences I have ever had. The value for what is offered is just ridiculous the rate for 9 holes riding for my 11 year old son and I was 37 dollars! Perhaps that doesnt strike the average golfer out there as extreme, were you to see this course however, you would scoff in disbelief as I did. We chose to walk and it was 25 bucks.
The bunkers on this course look like New Orleans beach front property Post Katrina. Distinguishing between "rough" and "Fairway" is nearly impossible. There were more weeds in the fairways than most average Muni courses have in the the grassy area just outside their equipment shed. I saw 1 legible yardage marker on the whole course. I could go on, but you get the point.
This course has so much potential, its sad to see it wasted. The 2nd, 3rd and the tee area of the 4th hole all border lake Erie. It could be a beautiful view of the lake were it not for hundreds of useless deadfall trees and waist high weeds blocking it. This place could be a little gem were it taken care of properly. Unfortunately, it is not.If you are in this area and are looking for a tee time. Do yourself a favor, look in the phone book for courses in Northeast or Erie PA, it will be well worth the trip if it means avoiding this course offering few charms and outrageous prices.
