ROSE GARDEN BEAUTIFUL - PARK BORDER LINE DUMPING GROUND
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/23/07
First, I totally commend those who worked so hard to make the Rose Garden a place of beauty. They have done an AWESOME job. It's a shame, however, that Mayor Stratton of Schenectady doesn't take the same efforts with the rest of the park. As of today, 6/22/07 there has been a bag of garbage that was dumped on the lawn that's been there for at least 4 days now. They must mow the grass right around it! I have pics of the lake just yesterday with cans, plastic, a garbage can and other delights floating in it & they have been there for some time. The lake is also getting scummy looking because weeds are taking over. It seem no one bothers to skim the lake or clean it up. There's trash pretty much here and there - anywhere you look. Yes, this is going to happen - humans can be inconsiderate slobs at times. However, I see park employees there every day - doesn't anyone have the job of grounds maintenance? Personally, I couldn't work there and see this; my job or not. As a matter of fact the reason I am so frustrated is because I am getting sick of picking up this stuff every night when I go over for my walks! The Mayor, I am told, lives within walking distance of this park - does he have no sense of pride? It's uncalled for and unacceptable. If I were the folks who work so hard on the Rose Gardens I would be angry about how the rest of the park is maintained and it's getting worse. The Rose Gardens get 10 plus stars; the parks gets a 4 because it has great potential and it wouldn't take much to bring it up to a 10. But they better do it before it's too late. Note: my rating is based on the Rose Garden only (obviously :)
