Bob Miller. Horrible.
By unknown, 09/26/09
I booked a party here and the owner was the worst person i've ever worked with. He was extreamly rude and spoke to me like i was an idiot. He acts as if he knows what he's doing but clearly he does not. The food was not what we wanted. The waitresses looked extreamly sloppy and the bartender was rude as well. I think he even ripped me off. I would not suggest going for a party. I wouldn't even attend a party there after what i just dealt with.

dont ever book a party here

while bergen is a beautiful golf course, and the country club should be a perfect venue for an event - the owner, bob, is the worst businessman ever to deal with. he has no idea how to deal with people - orders the food in for partries - no cooking on premises - under-orders so your guests dont have enough to eat - worried about the board of health but has hism employees eating the food when there is not enough for your guests - whom you have paid for = and verbally insults paying customers. he should not be in the catering business!

Great Golf Expirience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/25/08
Bergen Point Golf Course is a terrific golf course. The new management has done a outstanding job not only with the condition of the course, but their customer service made me feel like I was a member of a private country club. The greens are the best I've played of any public course on Long Island. They also have a great sports bar with a full menu. Bergen Point Golf Course is a great place and I will be back as often as possible.

Glad I gave it a try.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/05/07
Well, I never played this course because people said some bad things about it (lots of geese, not in good shape, etc.). But, I had a 3+ hour wait at Bethpage and started checking out other options. I'm really glad I did. The course is pretty well maintained overall, especially the greens and tees-maybe I caught it on a good day but I didn't have a problem with geese at all. Nice challenging links track that is a reasonable challenge and plays at a nice pace. I was around in a little over 4 hours on a Saturday, not bad! I should also say that the bar, "Patty Shack" and the pro-shop were a lot nicer than I expected for a public course. I met the PGA pro, Vic and he was really nice - he helped me get my Green Key Card finally! All in all, I would absolutely say that Bergen Point is a golf course which is worth checking out, and one which I think is probably going to get a lot more attention through word of mouth. Really a good option to some of the more talked about places. I'm going back there next weekend.

A true jewel on the water
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/01/07
I really love this golf course ! I've been playing there for years and it seems like every year they are making major changes to improve the track, like adding new tee boxes or clearing out areas to make it easier to find errant shots. Fast play, greens run amazing and true, nice views of the water on the back nine, and a genuine links golf experience - a real rarity anywhere on Long Island. Plus, middle of the day you can actually get out and play, rather than spending 3 hours waiting at Bethpage! The pro-shop in the clubhouse is set up really well and run like clockwork. Last time I was in, one guy helped me get set up with the right plastic spikes for my shoes - which the guy at the other golf store in town couldn't seem to locate. If you play a round there, be sure to visit the "Patty Shack" when you make the turn - always good food and friendly service there. This course is great for anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced, top rate public golf course. That's definitely me! Highly recommended!

Much improved
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/29/07
After hearing about the improvements to Bergen Point I decided to give it a try. the golf course was greatly improved from years ago. The bunkers were terrific and just recently redone. The greens were without question some of the best on long island. The course was clean and well kept without a goose in site. The rates are a bargin for the experience and I look forward to my next visit

Bergen Point Still Lacking
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/17/07
You'll usually find the wind blowing at this flat muni near the Great South Bay. Maintenance of the greens was much improved in 2006. Course appearance was also improved by clearing brush from around the many water hazards, but the adjacent sewage treatment plant permanently spoils the view of the bay. Large parts of many fairways remain unplayable due to bare patches or chronic flooding. At times, the geese droppings can be annoying. There is an adequate driving range and putting green, but chipping is not allowed. The pro and his staff enforce the rules. Bring water because there is none on the course, and you don't want to drink from the cooler outside the proshop (yeh, it's been like that for years). The snack bar serves only bagels and rolls for breakfast, but the bar has a nice menu for after your round.

fun in the sun
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/29/06
i was very impressed with this golf course. the only downfall is that it is right on the water. so on a windy day it may mess up your game. all in all, i definitly plan on playing the course again.
