I was SHOCKED to read the negative reviews that a couple of people have left regarding the Emporium! Granted, I wasn't stupid enough to go 15 minutes before closing like Mrs "Evil Eye" did, but I have been there many times before and have ended up staying well past closing time and everyone was SO helpful and willing to wheel and deal. Sandy and Stan know where everything is and the prices are fair. If there is something you need and they don't have it.... it doesn't exist. PLEASE check it out for yourself!
The place is huge! So huge it may take you a while to find what you are looking for. It’s basically a warehouse loaded with everything you need to restore an old house. They say they have more than 2000 doors & I can believe it. It’s a self service kind of place although the guys working there will go out of their way to help you. It is pretty well organized, but expect to spend some time hunting for what you want. Prices were fair (not yard sale cheap). You could spend a week there and still be finding new stuff.
I agree--if you want it, and are willing to pay exorbitant prices, you'll find it here. Maybe. If you don't get sick, lost, or cut in the process. It was dirty, dirty, dirty...dust, mildew, mold, broken glass. It was ridiculously overpriced, claustrophobic, dangerously overcrowded, with a staff that has no idea where anything is, and is not particularly helpful.
