Robert H. Treman State Park, Ithaca

My wife and I had just come from spending two days at Niagara Falls where we went to cave of the wind at the base of the American Falls. Niagara was of course spectacular, but the Treman Gorge was equally spectacular and just as interesting visually, if not more so. What wonderful architectural like spaces. Frank Lloyd Wright would have admired the architectural aspects here - or maybe he did. This was certainly worth the eighty five mile diversion from the New York Thruway.

This was a fantastic place to spend a hot afternoon. With the gorges and water surrounding us, it helped keep us cool. This has to be the most beautiful park I have been to! It was only $8 per car to get into the park. We packed a nice lunch (well we bought it from a local bakery - Ithaca Bakery) and the hike. When we were done hiking, there is a swimming hole UNDERNEATH A WATERFALL. This was one of the greatest and most memorable experiences of my life.... I loved it and you will too!

This place is wonderful. It has a little bit of everything for everyone. The trails are great and the scenery throughout the whole park is fabulous. The swimming area is one of the best reasons to go. Where else can you go that lets you swim in/under the falls. Just beware, the water temp doesn't usually get above 60 degrees. But after a long hike, nothing feels better than a cool dip in the water!! Can't wait to go back. I think it's going to have to become a tradition to go there at least once every summer.

One of the best places on planet Earth! Don't fall into the idea that there isn't a name falls at the end of the name Robert Treman. Skip Buttermilk falls, Glens falls, and Toughanouk falls. Go to Treman... The trail and falls are up close and personal, as well as spectacular and awesome. Hike along angular jagged rock faces one minute, and splash in the stream along a mini set of falls the next. Swim in the basin under a cascading section of falls at the official swimming area. Tickle your fancy for things of yesteryear by perusing the mechanical works of an antique historical gristmill. Parking and picnicing facilities available at the upper park as well for those less inclined for the rigors of the trails. Great for all ages! Camp in the lower park with neat and clean facilities. You won't want to leave, and you'll definately be back! It's not that I can't keep a secret... It's those people I tell about it! Maybe I'll see you there...

Treman State Park, located in gorge filled Ithaca, NY is a fantastic attraction. It is full of water falls, and lush greenery. If you are in upstate NY and can make an excursion to this park do it. You will not be disappointed. If you are visiting Ithaca or dropping your kids off at Cornell or Ithaca College, hit up this lovely location.
