Why Is This Library Called A Free Library??????
By Lisa, 6/23/09
I am from Pa., Traveled to many states but NEVER did I experience a library like this one. I stayed in Geneva, next day I looked for the Library to use a computer. Was told I have to Pay $35.00 for a library card to use the computer ( 10 minutes was all I needed). What a rip off.! Never went back to Geneva again. All surrounding towns have FREE librarys and you can use their computers as a guest. I will be going to that area again next month but I will never stay, shop, or eat at Geneva. Wake up, Geneva "Free" Library.

The library card is now $35.00 for those non-residents (as of 2006), and I was quite surprised to learn that one is supposed to have that library card in order to use the bathroom, but in every instance when I asked to use the bathroom (one needs the key located at the desk), I was supplied the key, though a few librarians did ask me if I have a library card. I used the microfilm (no charge), and when I went online, without the library card, I was charged $3.00. The library is quiet and it is opened from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. except for Thursdays when it is opened until 8 p.m. (I believe it is 8 p.m.) I plan to return if not in 2006, then definitely in 2007 and beyond.

I live on 96A in varick. I rate the Geneva Free library as POOR because I cannot use it without paying a yearly fee. Though I am outside Ontario county, all of my tax/ shopping dollars support Geneva as do all of the people in this area. As a result I feel we should have the oportunity to use the Geneva linrary. As it stands we are forced to make a special trip to Seneca Falls each week and deal with a very limited library. Very disapointed!!!
