Site of Alexander Hamilton & Betsy Schuyler's whirlwind romance
The house was also the setting of Alexander Hamilton and Betsy Schuyler's whirlwind romance, which occured during General Washington's second winter encampment in Morristown 1779-80. I recently attended the gala Betrothal Party, complete with re-enactors from the well known soap opera, One Life to Live.
The house itself is a great representation of upper middle class life in Morristown during the Revolutionary War and is part of NJ's Crossroads of the American Revolution. The attic is especially neat for kids as little has been touched since the 1770's and the original stairs, clearly made from tree trunks, is up there.
There are a series of rotating exhibits at the house, which is open Sunday afternoons and by appointment.
