Great Anniversary

After thoroughly reading several "bad" reviews for the Spirit of NJ Cruises, I was dismayed at what I had gotten myself into. However, to my surprise it was a GREAT TIME!. I had the first class package, which included unlimited beverages, including alcoholic beverages, for my guests & I. I think that is a must because, the drinks come out to be way cheaper than if we were to have to pay per drink. Also, when you have this package every member of your party must also have it as well, but you do get served, and do not have to go to the bar yourself. Our server even brought drinks to the overseeing deck for us. I also added the window seat option, which was a must because you do want to be able to savor the views. I went on a promotional sale, and got first class service, window seats, and pictures for about 330, not including tips. The pictures I got were worth it, perfect with the statue of liberty in the background. I must admit that the first class service, was a necessity, as the non-first class guests on my cruise had to wait quite a bit to eat, and had no appetizers to keep them up before the buffet opened. The food was ok, nothing spectacular, but nothing horrible either, this isn't a five star restaurant, but I did like the stuffed chicken breasts, and mash. The observation deck was very nice and had chairs to lounge on, and you could hear the music upstairs as well, they played a lot of top 40, which was nice. Overall I had a great time, they even announced our anniversary, and our dessert came out on a decorated plate with a candle, it was a night I will never forget, and for the price it actually worked out to be great! The tables are close together, but we were lucky because they gave us a table for four with only two place settings, that way their were actually two chairs in between the other table that was very close to ours, so we didn't even mind the closeness. I would recommend this, if you do the first class package, if not it might not be as nice of an experience, but it is what you make of it!
