Birthday Dinner
By ,
My husband and I like this for a special night out, Just the two of us. It’s always a friendly atmosphere. There is something romantic about being surrounded by happy people. You get to talk with other‘s or just hang alone. There’s a decent selection of foods and plenty of it. For us there is something pleasant about eating dinner afloat. My only complaint is the ‘T.V.’S”! Do they have to be on? For me, it brings the activity down to “Family Bar” type outing and for the price it should be “kicked up a notch”, or two. The D.J. performed great intervention with the guests and the cruise line never seems to be short of talented people, please turn them off.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY. DO NOT GO.
By ,
Entertainment was not very entertaining. My kids feel asleep. Definitely not worth the money. Ran out of milk - how do you run out of milk. Had to drink coffee with cream and I hate cream. For $130 a person I think I can get milk with my coffee. Very dissappointed. Can go on a weekend vacation for the price we paid for this dinner cruise. Hated it.

Great Anniversary
By ,
After thoroughly reading several "bad" reviews for the Spirit of NJ Cruises, I was dismayed at what I had gotten myself into. However, to my surprise it was a GREAT TIME!. I had the first class package, which included unlimited beverages, including alcoholic beverages, for my guests & I. I think that is a must because, the drinks come out to be way cheaper than if we were to have to pay per drink. Also, when you have this package every member of your party must also have it as well, but you do get served, and do not have to go to the bar yourself. Our server even brought drinks to the overseeing deck for us. I also added the window seat option, which was a must because you do want to be able to savor the views. I went on a promotional sale, and got first class service, window seats, and pictures for about 330, not including tips. The pictures I got were worth it, perfect with the statue of liberty in the background. I must admit that the first class service, was a necessity, as the non-first class guests on my cruise had to wait quite a bit to eat, and had no appetizers to keep them up before the buffet opened. The food was ok, nothing spectacular, but nothing horrible either, this isn't a five star restaurant, but I did like the stuffed chicken breasts, and mash. The observation deck was very nice and had chairs to lounge on, and you could hear the music upstairs as well, they played a lot of top 40, which was nice. Overall I had a great time, they even announced our anniversary, and our dessert came out on a decorated plate with a candle, it was a night I will never forget, and for the price it actually worked out to be great! The tables are close together, but we were lucky because they gave us a table for four with only two place settings, that way their were actually two chairs in between the other table that was very close to ours, so we didn't even mind the closeness. I would recommend this, if you do the first class package, if not it might not be as nice of an experience, but it is what you make of it!

This is the letter I sent to the company
By ,
To Whom it May Concern, I booked this dinner cruise for our anniversary. We just got home from it now. This was a very very special day for us. First off, I never received a confirmation email with the directions. We paid almost $400 for this "SPECIAL" evening. We got all the SO CALLED "Upgrades" The romance table for TWO......A Romance table for TWO..... NOT EIGHT....TWO!!!!! And a window seat.... ok we got the window seat, but I was in shock that you call a romance table for TWO is a 2 inch gap away from the people next to you. This was our anniversary and it was ruined. When we were seated we couldn't even get to our seats they were bunched with the tables behind us. This was our anniversary and we could not even talk to each other with another table with a 2 inch gap away from us... how the hell were we even suppose to have a conversation with strangers next to us? I couldn't even talk to him, I sat there with tears in my eyes .... this was a joke the whole romance table is a big joke, how dare you mislead like this, I would have never in a million years spent my anniversary like that. Maybe a regular day ok fine but not an anniversary. We were so uncomfortable, could not even get up to go to the bathroom, there was no room! There was much less people in the other room... why not have the romance people in there? This was a horrible experience for an anniversary, we didnt even drink our wine...... how would you feel if you were celebrating an anniveersary paid $400 ........$400 and what a JOKE!!!!!! Thanks for a "LOVELY" Anniversary,

Can't wait to cruise again
By ,
The ship was on time and the food was very good. Buffet had Salmon to Roast Beef and everything else in between. A good time was had by all and I cant wait to have another family get together aboard the Spirt of New Jersey. Of course the views of lower Manhatten and the Statue of Libertry are breath taking. The staff was very attentive to passenger needs and requests. The DJ played all the hits that got people out of their seats and onto the dance floor.

OK but not worth the price
By ,
Food was like a cheap Las Vegas buffet. Service was slow and inattentive. The drinks were outrageously priced. $8.00 for a bottle of beer and $12 for a toxic cocktail. Loud music played that could send you into space when it blasted. Positives were the ocean breezes, the upclose views of the Statue of Liberty and the fact that the trip we took, which was a weekend evening dinner cruise was not crowded at all so that we did not get stuck with 2 more people at our crouded table. Personally, I would have enjoyed a cocktail party type serving of small sandwiches, and finger foods with 2 free drinks to the scrappy buffet that they passed off. For the amount we paid- which with 2 drinks each and the price of the 2 tickets without upgrades- approximately $250 for 2 people, we could have gone in the city, eaten at a primo steakhouse and then caught a movie for less.

Dont Rock The Boat...
By ,
Went on dinner cruise sat 7/15/06, sailing out of weehawken. Food was decent buffet -- they DO come over and cordially invite your table to get the food, no rampage of starving people. Good points: Sails around NYC/NJ, has an outside upstairs deck and clean bathrooms. Issues: We paid for a "romantic upgrade", add'l $70.00 which I guess was worth it; we DID get a window view but its not guaranteed. There was a wedding on the same deck we were on occupying several tables on both sides of the dance floor, plus multiple parties (bday, anniv, etc., and a private party on the 2nd deckd. The "Broadwaylike show" was awful. They'd be better off spinning top 40. Too loud and way to claustrophobic due to the low ceilings. Tables VERY very close together. Cruise was 3 hours, $252 per couple including the upgrade with 1 bottle of Totts; additional drinks extra $11.50 for a Manhattan and a very small one at that. Thank goodness for the upper deck; my date and I were able to escape the conga line, and enjoy the view. It was like being part of Tony and Tina's wedding, ok if you like that sort of thing. Bottom line: I'm not an introvert - for better value I'd do circle line or similar cruise and have a $300 dinner elsehwere, where I dont have to get up for it and have forced socializing amongst strangers...

lunch cruise was fun
By ,
We went on a lunch cruise. The kids went free with a paying adult. That was a real bargain. The food was good and the service excellent. It wasa 2 hour trip down the Hudson and wonderful views of NYC and NJ. Took great pics by the Statue of Liberty. We took the Bateaux, not the Spirit of NJ, although that was wht I booked. Only problem, boat was fully enclosed by glass. So, what I thought would be a cool day on the river turned out to be HOT. It was 98outside on a Sunday afternoon. I felt mislead because I booked on line and did nt mention this smaller boat. But overall, it was fun and would consider going in the evening again for a special occassion without the kids.
