better wait to go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/23/09
Can't write much, not that I don't have alot to say, but I might have have to run back to the bathroom again. Since I visited newport mall on Saturday & ate at the hotdog place right next to the theatre, I've been feelig kinda woozie. You know which one, "Nathens." This happened on Saturday the 19th & here it is Wednesday the 23rd, & I'm still on the bowl. My four year old wouldn't eat the hotdogs, should've listened to him. I guess sometimes they know more than what we give them credit for. My wife says it could be lasting this long because I'm diabetic, whatever, it's probably bacterial soI don't suggest anyone who's diabetic go there for their once a week binge. Oh no, well sorry to RUN,( parden the pun) but when you gotta go....

avoid if you can

The interior is nice enough, but the stores are lacking, and the crowd is inconsiderate. I've been there a few times now because it's the closest mall to me, but every time was unsatisfactory. The first time I went I shopped for swim wear. The department stores were very limited in selection and very unorganized with no one trying to tidy it up while I was there. Also they may have a Gap, but the choices are also limited since they didn't carry swim wear! The few times I've been there almost every store I've gone into no one greeted me, let alone offer to help me. When I have approached a sales person for help they are not helpful and instead carry an attitude of being inconvenienced. The other day I went to Macy's to return wrapping paper and ribbon I bought at another Macy's. The sales person said they don't have a wrapping paper department and told me I would "most likely not be able to return it." "Most likely" is not absolute, and she refused to even try to see if the systems would return it. When entering and exiting the mall there is always someone cutting their way into the mall as if it were the ER. No one holds doors open for strangers like the elderly or a parent with a stroller. Just the other day I had 4 young women let go of the door they were going to open themselves and cut through the door I was still in the process of opening without an "excuse me" or "thank you" or a glance toward my existence. I'm not saying everyone who works there or shops there is under par, but this mall is definitely a "utility mall."

HIGH PARKING FEES, Dont go 10$ for 4-6hrs
By online shopper, 05/27/08
Yesterday I had parked on the ground level of the newport center mall for a little more than 4 hrs and had shelled out a pretty steep 10.25 $. In my opinion it would be in their best interest of the newport mall to come up with a plan to validate tickets for purchasing customers. Free/discount if a customer ends up actually purchasing at your mall. I understand the proximity to the city and additional costs involved in operating a parking lot so close to the city. BUT HIGH PARKING FEES

Not a bad experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/16/07
I use to complain about the parking charges but I have a understanding now of why a person pays for parking. Some people leave there cars there in the mall parking lot to go to city and come back. The mall won't be making any profit if it allowed free parking for everyone, even those people that don't go to mall. The retail and shopping I can't complain about thankfully I've come at times that the mall wasn't crowded or during night.

excellent
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/09/07
I liked mostly everythimg. I liked how there are many shopping malls and resturants. For example, there are Macy, Sears, Kohls, J.C Penny, Taco Bell, Burger King, McDonalds, etc. This is a wonderful mall and I recommend it to everyone.

Ghetto Mall
By Aytekin, 11/11/07
They try to market Newport Centre as an upscale mall for the business people in the neighborhood, but don't be fooled. The stores and patrons are anything but upscale. Newport Centre has the highest incidences of crime in Jersey City.

just my view
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/22/07
I love this mall-this mall is the bomb baby! Definitly miss when I could get there easier thru the wtc path train station though. RIP 9/11 victims. The mall is absolutely fantastic. Nice looking, good stores, movie theatre; accessible by train. Haven't seen a mall that beats this one yet.

Amazing place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/07
The mall is very user friendly with lots of signage to direct you where to go and locate things. There is a movie theater on the third floor. It is close to the pathtrain stop and if you park in the garage near the pathtrain stop you can have your ticket validated for eating in (or just buying a smoothie at BaBo)any area restaurants (if you stay 4 hours or less).

Awesome
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/07
Malls all over New Jersey are uncomparable to any other states, you'll find what you are looking for always and more. I lived in NJ for years and this is one of the places to shop. Friendliness of people: 3-1/2 stars Parking: 4 stars Easiness of communiting (Buses): 5 stars
