Horrific Shock - not a good place to be

DO NOT USE BOULDER CITY as your stopping point for food or rest after seeing Hoover Dam or before. They have signs up for museums and food, but it is not a tourist friendly town. The police department there is uber vigilant and tickets for jaywalking downtown are a regular occurrence. It is a trap, so stay away and head further down to Henderson for a rest stop. When we drove through there, it was scarey - there were cops out everywhere and some carried machine guns openly on the main streets. So - forewarned is forearmed - don't stop in Boulder City.

Great place that is not based around a casino

If you want to see something besides a slot machine then you must come and see this place. Guess what there is really a place and since gambleing is not allowed it is great to see there is real life here.

Unexpected treat down the road from LV

Historic downtown that is still used by locals but nice spot for visitors. Unpretentious and not expensive with restaurants (no chain), gift and antique shops, and places of business such as hardware store, banks, etc. Boulder City Dam Hotel is a historic landmark, with a museum. Everything in walking distance, historic neighborhoods close by. City hall. post office with parks, nice tall trees & gazebo also in area gives town a traditonal feel. Liked Coffee Cup with nice small town atompshere with owners on hand, and Evans Old Town Grille for dinner, including bar service. Laid back.
