Alberta Bair Theater for the Performing Arts
\"The largest fully equipped performing arts theater in Montana,\" the 1,400-seat Alberta Bair Theater \"showcases professional touring companies, featuring musician, dance, and theater performances, as well as local performing groups.\"
We use to love going to Alberta Bair and performing but recently they have a new Executive Directer and their staff has changed and the remaining staff has really gone down hill! Waht happened to some of the expert and loving stage, tech people? It seems some of the regulars like Gary and Tom are gone due to the ignorance and incompetent management. I can't say I blame them for leaving as they were obviously far above the "level" of the present tech staff and director. It's a shame that this so called non profit can not even pay their best staff. I know for certain that these individuals raised the bar for production standards and values. We as a traveling prodution crew appreciated and learned from Gary Larson's sincere and professional work values. Not only did he know his craft but he promoted the venue and treated all with great love and respect. We'll miss you Gary! I think that the the Chinese proverb say's it best about The Alberta Bair Theater and Billings, MT.
" THE FROG IN THE WELL CAN NOT IMAGINE THE SIZE OF THE OCAEN."
The people who are directly involved in the production process like stage Technical Director, Stage Manager...these people are awesome and Alberta Bair is so lucky to have such firendly and professional staff. I have been involved in a few productions and the knowledge that they have there is first class and usually only available in large metro areas...first class venues. Randy..Gary...you are simply the best!
Since I was born in Billings, I went to many Saturday matinees at the old Fox Theater. When my husband and I went to an opera at the Alberta Bair, I was full of anguish at the interior as it was now. I walked in, expecting the old grand majesty of her former self....wanting to share it with my husband. I stood there and explained what 'used to be' and no longer was.
A shame to take all the beauty away.
Methinks the modern way is not always the best. Give me the eloquence of yesterday anytime!
It's a really nice place, but somewhat small and they try to make everything seem like the best show you'll ever see. It's all talk. I'm always impressed after the shows but they're often not worth the cost.
