Robidoux Resident Theater, St Joseph

I can't believe the "good" reviews this group has gotten. Are these people blind? And deaf? The performances by this "troupe" are some of the most unsophisticated resident theatre performances I have ever seen. Their production of "Cabaret" last fall was the last straw with me. Dancers who can't dance just can't possibly be good for a show that features dancing! If Mr Minx could have rolled around on the floor, I'm sure he would have. The Jagger mouth and tongue thing was annoying to say the least. And Mr and Mrs Myers both need to forget everything they learned in high school and go take an acting class! There are some members of the troupe who give good performances. Unfortunately, they generally aren't given the lead roles or even the meatier roles. That is a travesty but because they have some people with talent, I gave it two stars instead of one. One word for those bored enough to contemplate buying a ticket: RUN.

Robidoux Resident Theatre is an amazing and passionate organization dedicated to providing professionally done, artistically valuable theatrical experiences for the St. Joseph community and surrounding areas. There are few volunteer community arts organizations in Missouri which provide not only the quantity of shows, but quality. With recent shows such as "Guys and Dolls", "The Wizard of Oz", "Beauty and the Beast", "To Kill a Mockingbird", "Rumors", and many others, RRT's season has something for everyone. In addition to their main stage season at the Missouri Theatre, they recently just opened a smaller, blackbox theater called the "Robidoux Landing Playhouse" which presents the opportunity for smaller cast shows with a distinctly "downtown" experience. I highly recommend!!

The shows provide a variety of entertainment; most appropriate to be seen by the whole family. It you are looking for a wonderful theatre experience that won't hit you too hard in the pocket, check out Robidoux Resident Theatre!!

This is the best community theatre in the entire state. It has been recognized by Missouri Association of Community Theatres to be the best! It has ten productions a year at two different venues. These are by far the best musicals you will ever see. Over 20,000 patrons see an RRT show each year, which makes RRT the most attended arts organization in St. Joseph!
