Word of Life Church, St Joseph

Having attended this church for many, many years, I can say that this church used to be full of faith of victory. It was a church where the Bible was preached and many responded to altar calls It was a place where the following was taught: “Faith people are blessed people.”. The state of this church now is one of apostasy. Altar calls ceased. The preaching is now that salvation is a community event. Luck is taught instead of blessing. The philosophies of men and the doctrines of the “emerging church” are preached, with scripture only occasionally referenced. In October, Scott McKnight, who is a teacher of the “emerging church” doctrines, is being brought in for a 3 day conference to further mislead the small congregation that remains. Sadly, the lead pastor now reports his inspiration comes from the television show, “The Simpsons”, a book by an atheist and a worldly musician. (Message: “Finding God On Your iPod: Say It To Me Now” from 8/12/12.) In February 2012, an associate pastor preached on a Friday night the following: “The Bible is not to be applied to your life”. He went on to say that it is a story. Many of the positive reviews written in Yahoo are from a time when the church did move in the power of God. • Pray for the church • Pray for the pastor • Pray for the people who still go there. • Pray that their eyes will be open to see the truth of this end-time delusion. Until that occurs, you might want to check out a different church.

I have attended this church for over 20 years. I have seen it grow and change over that time, along with the growth and change of the community that makes this church up. There is no brainwashing... anyone who says there is has been misinformed. True, back in the day, the atmosphere was a bit more "radical," but most non-denominational churches were. Heck, even the Catholic church has had periods where speaking in tongues was commonplace. People go through phases. The point is, Word of Life may not be your cup of tea, and we're fine with that. But it has grown to be a mature, community minded, Christ-focused community with a good heart, and a good pastor. It is a big building, which intimidates new people, but it is full of loving, kind people. I, my parents, and my husband (former practicing Catholic, btw) love this community deeply. Any church is made up of regular people with flaws and troubles, but God gives us a place to belong and serve. The children's ministry is phenomenal, the worship is heartfelt, there is a community garden that is tended by volunteers and distributed to the public for free, we give to support missionaries all over the world as well as help struggling people in our own town. This church is producing good fruit.

They practice mind control aimed at extracting money from you. Its just a big financial machine. You need to run away (not walk) from this place.

I've watched this church change from a Bible-based ministry to what it is today and have been intimately involved in its inner workings. I'm also not a young person, as I suspect most if not all of the other raters are, and have worked within and led other ministries over the course of my lifetime. Please look deeper than the PR and the glitz. Pro: Great entertainment Con: Very subtle deceptions being practiced here concerning the role of the Holy Spirit and the Body of Christ. The pastor will "tell you" what God wants you to know and do. The party line from the pulpit is different from what is practiced. Be careful!

This church is the best ever! ecspeacially for those wild kids who want to just chill and rock out for god and jesus! its so fun! I recomond this church 100%! Some of the people at church and m.y.c are really hot 2!!Well its real fun!!

I like the people here. They are nice. Solomon's Porch has great smoothies. The experience was great. I would definetely recommend it to others. Oh yes it was worth the time to go there. The preaching from both Pastor Brian and Pastor Shea (youth pastor) is great to hear. Over all this church is the best.

In my opinion, why would you call this church an attraction?! It's based on the PASTOR'S BELIEFS! Not the Bible's! It's not something I would waste my time in St.Joe on. Why not put something more appealing like the movie theatres?

Word of Life Church is on fire for God and preparing for a revolution. We all come together for a common purpose and that is evident in the pastors, the members, and the presence of God that is seen weekly. WOLC is a place where poeple can come to meet the Lord, grow in the Lord, press into Him and know that the teachings they are receiving from Pastor Brian are real, prophetic, and will change their lives. From a previous post - We are far from a cult!! We are a congregation who loves God and wants to spread his Word.

Had a great time worshiping the King at this mega-Church. Would highly recommend it for those traveling through St Joseph. They have a neat little coffee shop open daily, and they have services on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings. CON: Be ready for loud music and lighting that can go from dim to bright without warning. (Not meaning anything negative, just thought you should be fore-warned.)

Word of Life is a great church for those not afraid to get involved. For those that visit once, it's attractive for most with fresh preaching, too!
