Fantastic Caverns
Description
A guided 50 minute tour takes you through America's only ride through cave into the ancient underground riverbed that is filled with massive formations. The cave stays 60 degrees year-round.
Price was a little much for just a short distance but my family did enjoy the ride. We got to sit in the jeep and enjoyed talking with our guide. I do wish I could remember his name. He was really great. If the boss is reading this, our guide is slim, young, short sandy hair, glasses, and very outgoing.
This was wonderful. Even my three year old was interested in this. Good because you don't have to walk. I don't recommend if you have a fear of close spaces, and the dark. Make sure you wear a jacket it is cold and wet down there. This is well worth the money and the trip. The guide was so informative, and the suvenior picture was $10.00 but was well worth it to..If given the chance go here, it is well worth it.
I thought the ride was very informative. We saw a very short film strip at one point that told about the history of the things the cave had been used for. I feel that it was a little overpriced. $20 for an adult and $12 for a child. We didn't have to wait long for our tour. They were only 15 minutes apart.
One of only 4 riding tours in the world. What a neat way to see a cave. Didn't have to worry about the kids getting tired on a long walk. The cave was beautiful and the grounds were well kept. The building was very nice also. Must see!
I've always heard about caves, but I thought they were just stone walls. Fantastic Caverns was the most beautiful place I've ever been to. We took our daughter around 7 years ago, and now we have custody of my 5 year old grandson and I want him to see the beauty of the awesome sites in Missouri.
Thank you for the wonderful opportunity you provide for everyone to enjoy.
Tour guide was very informative. The cave itself is, well, fantastic. All of the expected formations were present, but you are allowed to touch the straws being formaed in one part of the cave. The gift shop had affordable prices and a very good selection. The facilities are clean and in good order. The site is a little out of the way, but the signs along the way make it very easy to find.
It is a good cave with some spacious caverns and is easy for anyone to see as it's all in propane-powered jeeps. That's the good part and the bad part. I personally prefer seeing the cave in a more relaxed pace and exploring around and pondering over more interesting features--having a jeep drive you around makes that difficult.
