Seen more animals in my front yard than this place the (3) times i've been there... Most recent review since this one (7) yrs ago....tell you something?

Great fall hiking right in town. Some trails are paved - all are easily accessed. Real asset to Springfield. Every town should take notice.

The Nature Center is a wonderful place for anyone that likes the outdoors. Being a non-profit organization, the Center is a free trail for you or even your entire family to get away from it all. They have several different trails (short and long) to fit your schedule, not to mention all sorts of wildlife you see. A few of the trails are unpaved and uneven, but that makes it much more of a true nature spot. *This is a walking trail, no bikes, or pets are allowed*

what I like about this place is it's all About nature it has a few different trials it has a bird watching facility that's in their center and one on the James river and its on the back of Springfield lake it's very peaceful and very beautiful and it's free I would highly recommend taking children there if you go there in the early evening you will always see deer and I've seen bobcats there wild turkey raccoons Canadian geese ducks possums it's always a pleasure for me Frank
