Amazing in every way
By ,
My husband and I stayed at this amazing mansion this past weekend. It is a 'must stay' for anyone with a passion for historical homes. Our hostess was perfect. She gave us a private tour and after, she encouraged us to make ourselves at home.... and with 13,500 square feet to explore, it made for the most interesting weekend. We watched the river roll by from atop the mansion with coffee... watching a beautiful sunrise. We can't wait to go back!

Beautiful historic B&B
By ,
Rockcliffe Mansion is a gorgeous historic home, very interesting to tour, and very comfortable and romantic as a B&B. The caretaker/tour guide Hillie is welcoming and is very knowledgeable about the mansion's history. Breakfast was delicious--we were also welcomed at check in with wine, fruit, cheese and chocolates in our room. A wonderful romantic weekend getaway--highly recommended.

Love it!
By ,
My husband and I were given a nights stay there for our honeymoon and WOW was I amazed. First of all when we walked in and met the couple(Lisa and Ken) that is running it they couldn't have been more welcoming or wonderful. After our night there we woke up to breakfast and had a wonderful chat with Lisa and Ken. As it turns out we loved it so much we have been back many times. I would recommend it to anyone. Lisa and Ken thank you so much you both are wonderful people and I hope the mansion will remain under your care.

My favorite place to stay
By ,
Ive stayed here 5 or 6 times. It is my most favorite place to stay. One person wrote about excessive dust? I do paranormal investigations so therefore use a UV light. This also is the same light used by investigators to see body fluids. It also shows any and all dust on any surface that you cant see with your naked eye. I also use it to see the cleanliness of the bedding, flooring and walls. Weird yes but I have it handy and it takes a second to do. This building has no dust, on walls or anywhere. The bedding shows no stains of any kind. This mansion is kept very clean. Bring a black light before speaking please. I see what the human eye cant. The rooms are beautiful and make you feel as if you stepped back in time. If you open closets or drawers you will see all kinds of old trinkets, that tend to spike your interest to open thame all. The bedding is all made of down, and you will have a wonderful night of sleep. When I did sleep, I slept very soundly. You also get a tray of fruit and cheeses, and wine on your table in your room when you arrive. The first time I saw this mansion I was just in awe of the detail and beauty of the inside. Workmanship that you never see anymore. The grand staircase is breathtaking as well. Food is great as well. If you want to lay around and watch tv then this isnt the place to go. If you want to spend quality relaxing time with your mate or family, then this is the place to go. I actually like to walk around at my leisure and listen to the tour. I do not want to be rushed. I like the freedom to move about at will. I guess everyone is different. The staff I find to be very helpful and very very nice. They even go to alot of trouble to let me check in very late which is appreciated. They answer my questions and have always told me storys and history on the home. Ive never had any problems with staff at all. There are outside prches that are so relaxing to sit and view the breathtaking scenery of all of hannible. The mansion sits up so high on the hill that you can see the river and the whole town. The grounds are very nice to walk as well. You will not regret coming here for a stay. I hope to be able to keep coming back over and over again. I have another reservation and am really looking forward to staying again.

simply beatiful!
By ,
We toured this Mansion, and was amazed with the original furnishings, including gold leaf wall papers. Our guide was very knowledgable about the history of the home, and even some ghost stories! We travel quite a bit and enjoy touring preserved homes. This Mansion was incredibly intact and original in every detail we could see. We can see why this home was touted as "The Grandest Home in Missouri" when it was built. And still must be today.

Just needs about five dust rags
By ,
Needs a good cleaning. Not quite up to what it was the last time we look at it five years ago. I think it has a new owner. If you are allergic to dust skip this tour and stay on the trolley and head back to the musuems and shop.

I keep going back
By ,
Ive went to stay several times now. I also rented the entire 13,000. square ft home out for a whole weekend. I am a paranormal investigator. I have rated it #1 for paranormal activity, and I have traveled all over the united states, to the best rated haunted sites, and everywhere else pales in comparison to rockcliffe. It is as well a very beautiful building. Its beauty is breathtaking. The price I believe per night is way to high. If I wasnt going for paranormal, then I wouldnt have payed it. If you hear banging in the night its just the man of the house coming in after a late night. The spirits will sometimes bang on your headboard to wake you up early to do chores as well. But there harmless. Have a great and fun stay! Ill be going back again soon.

very nice
By ,
wonderful history, beautiful home. I read another review that complained about the pre-recorded audio tour but we found this to be the best part. we were able to go at our own pace without lumbering through the house with 30 other people in a pack and not be able to hear the tour guide. also because of the pre-recorded tour, you can tour the house at any time during business hours and can press pause on an mp3 player if you need more time in a room. took lots of pictures, this was one of the highlights of our weekend.

Disappointed
By ,
I had visited the mansion maybe ten years ago, had an actual real live tour guide. Went back today with my husband who had never been. We were very disappointed with the audio tour. For the price of 12.50 a person I would like to have a guide that you could ask questions about the home. Obviously the new owner===all about the money, not really interested in sharing the history of the mansion.
