Grand Gulf Military Monument Park, Port Gibson

We had the wonderful fortune of happening upon this best hidden secret after looking for a interesting and quite place to camping for the week of Thanksgiving. First the park itself is an filled with incredible historic information that anyone is sure to enjoy - from the musem to the grounds with the historical buidlings and cemetery.. and all those things were wonderful enjoy just to be topped by some of the most friendliest kindest people we have ever seen ( and we are from South Lousisiana..lol), the two wonderful ladies at the front office to the Park Rangers right down to the Park Host...you don't meet more help friendly people. If you are looking for a walk back in time this is your place....we camped in he upper campround and loved it...it almost felt like we were alone...time seems to stand still when camping and enjoying this park!!

Twice I saw a lot of history there and felt like I was almost there when it happened. The folks controlling the site definitely take pride in there work and make you feel like you count. I had decided while I was there that I would go back again and should I ever have to evacuate for a hurricane, that is where I would head so I could enjoy myself during a stressful time .

Truly a hidden jewel for the state of Mississippi. The people that staff the park are the BEST! The museum was quality all the way and the park itself was pristeen in every way!

This is a great place to take a picnic or have a get-together. The facilities are nice and the artifacts are awesome. Children and adults alike will enjoy the experience. The scenery is awesome as well. Take a picnic.
