The best thing about Oak Summit G.C. to me was the chance to get to know such a nice family! I had a chance to catch up with Leon DeCook (the owner) and some of his family working there.
Leon explained to me that he had opened Oak Summit in June of 1992. As I was listning to his story about how he used to farm the 263 acres, His son Izaak walked in. Leon told me that was his son and also the grounds keeper. I was just so fastenated by the fact that there is still family-run busines in the area. After I checked in, I was pointed in the right direction and I was on my way!
As I sat and drank my Gatorade after my round, Leon and his daughter Gabriel accompanied me. It was such a fun day to hear all about the history of the course. I had a fun time while enjoying the warm breeze of the June air. Oak Summit is a very beautiful and well-maintained golf course. I look forward to coming out again. Next time I will be sure to bring the whole family!
Oak Summit could be a nice course if they didn't have cement fairways and didn't have crappy areas around the greens. Speaking of greens, I can hit them with a wedge and they bounce like super balls.
Spend some money and put some damn water on the course.
