Mayowood Mansion, Rochester

I have toured the Mayowood Mansion on numerous occasions and fall in love with the place time and time again. The holiday tours are especially beautiful and tourists come from across the country. It is always clean and you are greeted with a warm welcome. Staff are very cheerful and knowledgeable. Hearing the Mayo family history is quite interesting and the staff help to put a picture of the way things were when the mansion was filled with a close knit family. It is romantic and heartwarming. After touring the mansion we enjoy shopping in Rochester. Well worth the trip!

I have been here 4 times, I think, over 30 years. I first went as a teen when there was more attention to this place. You had to take a bus tour(full bus loads)to get there, and I just loved it(very romactic). Then I have been back on my Honeymoon, and several times since with my husband. This place never changes. Very clean, great tour(very informative) and beautiful house and grounds. I would love to be part of the historical society, and take care of this old "Matron". I sugest that you be sure to tour the Mayo clinic, and St Mary's Hospital, and all the other historic places in Rochester FIRST,(Very Cool) then you know more of the history before you see the mansion. This is a beautiful historic landmark in Rochester, Minnesota. I found this place to be warm and welcoming. The tour was informative and the mansion was gorgeous. I would reccomend this tour to anyone.
