Zoo Buzz
This zoo, like much of Duluth, is set on the hillside that faces Lake Superior. The Duluth Zoo mixes the natural enviroment thoroughly, you have the feeling that the wild is truly wild. I love the cascading water that passes under walk bridges between natural granite banks, the geology of centuries exposed here in this lovely ecologically presented animal park. My favorite was the ravens. My reading has included Bernd Heinrich and his research on ravens, so I was enchanted when the aviary, which contained two ravens, was set in a surround so the birds could be as involved with the humans as they chose to be; one in particular enjoyed my company as much as I enjoyed its.
If Duluth is your destination, don't hesitate to make the zoo a choice stop; you will enjoy your day and maybe two!
