Lake Superior Zoo, Duluth

I normally do not like going to zoos while on vacation because it is something that I can do any other weekend. I like to do things on vacation that I can not do usually. But the kids wanted to go to the zoo so we went. I am glad that we did. The zoo is small, but it is not in a huge metropolitan area so don't expect the San Diego zoo. There are a decent amount of animals and the settings for the animals was very nice. The zoo was clean and well kept. I especially liked the polar bear exhibit. We got to see some wolves up close and the monkeys were active. I had a good time and the kids loved it.

It reminds me of the wonderfull zoos of the past. Where the animals are close enough to be seen yet in their natural habitat. We are from MPLS but have been there many times and brought each grandchild as the have gotten old enought to travel with us. We always make this a stop on our agenda!!!!!!!!!!

it sucks i went there it was not fun. i hope i don't have to go there ever again . it had not many animals my kid hates it.

This zoo was too expensive for the amount of animals you could see on display. The staff was not very knowledgable and the facility was smelly. I felt sorry for the animals stuck there. Paying admission to go here is rewarding a bad zoo.

Everything was horrible. The animals were all hungy. The staff got in fights. They did not clean the animal pens. I would not go back if you payed me.

We enjoyed the whole zoo. The large crows stole my sons flyer and flew away with it, very comical! The waterfall through the center was gorgeous and the whole zoo was laid out nicely.

This zoo, like much of Duluth, is set on the hillside that faces Lake Superior. The Duluth Zoo mixes the natural enviroment thoroughly, you have the feeling that the wild is truly wild. I love the cascading water that passes under walk bridges between natural granite banks, the geology of centuries exposed here in this lovely ecologically presented animal park. My favorite was the ravens. My reading has included Bernd Heinrich and his research on ravens, so I was enchanted when the aviary, which contained two ravens, was set in a surround so the birds could be as involved with the humans as they chose to be; one in particular enjoyed my company as much as I enjoyed its. If Duluth is your destination, don't hesitate to make the zoo a choice stop; you will enjoy your day and maybe two!
